Interesting interview

Also, going to try and start pronouncing his name correctly from now on lol

There are two Phil Jagielkas. There is Phil Jagielka the Premier League footballer, the captain of Everton and the England international. And there is Phil ‘Yug-yel-ka’, to pronounce his Polish surname correctly, the normal bloke, husband and father.

“I’m known as ‘Jags’,” he says. “But my name’s not the most common around. My kids (Zak and Mya) have learnt to deal with it at school now. It’s pronounced wrong. It’s ‘Yug-yel-ka’. So I’ve got my football name and my real name.

“And there are two different sides. I have my work, my football and obviously it crosses over massively but there is also my heritage. I still go and see my ‘babcia’, my Polish grandma. When I was younger it felt a bit more difficult with an unusual name – I’ve got my granddad’s name as a middle name (Nikodem) - but as you get older you get prouder. There hasn’t been any other player in the Premier League with that name and it’s something I am really proud of and I am glad that the kids feel that way as well.”

Boss, there's only one Jagielka!

I'm unconvinced about his leadership skills. I've no doubt about him as a player but as a captain I'm not so sure. He's been captain for a number of years now and to me, he hasn't improved. I'm fully aware that shouting and bawling isn't what makes a good captain but im convinced that having a commanding leader on the pitch would make a real difference to us and I just don't see him as that type of player.

Sadly I think its about time he retired from England.

Hes having loads of hamstring injuries, if thats what it is again, hes certainly not getting any younger, but hey, its up to him I suppose.

I understand this very much.

Imagine Williams face playing alongside that car crash of a player.
