Phrases that Make You Go Insane...

There is NO WAY to type laughter or amusement without looking like a bit of a dick. Thinking about it, the reason why abbreviated words like lol and rofl have been so widely accepted is probably exactly because they are abbreviations and not words. That way they have no strict verbal meaning to obey and can be more like the gestures they represent, laughs and smiles.

It's the future mate, chatting on the internet isn't like handwriting a letter anymore.

1 - It takes seconds to type superb, crying here or whatever.

2 - Abbreviating it makes you look like a tit and is rude.

3 - It also makes you look like a bad teenager.

4 - Text talk is outlawed on here.

Obey the law Browns, and make yourself look cooler.

Yeah you may as well wear them stupid ass pants that don't fit, and shake your hair out of your eyes.

Yeah but who the **** rolls on the floor laughing? a clown? Who laughs out loud.

What are you doing making all that noise, well I am laughing out loud don't you know. Well stop it, this is a quiet zone.

I think you should coin a phrase Browns, or a symbol for on here to denote laughing but not be an abbreviation or smilie.

I'll sign up to it.

ROFL I agree with, very few people Roll On the Floor Laughing, but your telling me you have never "laughed out loud" whilst reading something?

As Browns said they are just words to express feelings, people like chico, no offence you massive belter, but people like chico who say they dont like smillies or words like LOL and ROFL, well they are stuck in some time warp. Get back to the 60s chico.

As I say, no offence.:huh::dodgy::D

I don't mind people not wanting to use lol because they genuinely don't like it or aren't used to it, but it just grates when people make a massive effort to avoid it and type "haha" or whatever instead. It's so much easier if you just give in and go along with it.

I still type in perfect English if it's appropriate, there's nothing to stop people being clever enough to tell the difference.

So someone who types 1 extra character grates you? I thought I had issues.

Id rather type haha than reduce the level of my typing to that of a teenager.

I am well gay about this kind of stuff, it has to be said. It's true tho, I know plenty of people who have for years refused to do anything internetty at all for fear of being nerdy, like it's the worst possible embarrassment.

He lead a good life, but the shame of lol was too much for him, sadly.

People who write stuff like Smilies = whoppers. grind my balls...........that also means whoppers = smilies which obviously isn't true therefore the perpetrator is a whopper and also a smilie:P

Depends entirely on the circumstances. Some of the things said at football matches are a thousand times worse than some little abbreviations. I know what you mean, typing a whole sentence in four letters is pretty ridiculous, but there are certain phrases that are very useful.

There's worse things said everywhere, but it doesn't validate using text talk like a teenager.

I also detest that people rely on smilies to denote the way in which something is said.

But hey, maybe its because I'm an old fashioned girl.
