Is this a joke?

who talks like that?
I'm sure you already know this but just in case?
The O.P. said something like "Most of London (and Birmingham) is a dump and didn't know why a player would move there?"

I said what I did because all premier league players earn millions of pounds and would then move to the affluent areas around the training grounds and not live in the poorer areas where most stadiums are located. I stated "Affluent Chigwell" because Spurs moved from there a few years ago.

Edit. I'm sure none of you are trying to get me in trouble with the mods but just in case I'm not gonna reply to anything that isn't on topic :p

If he were to sign for Spurs I think a daily round trip of around a no traffic four hours (which isn't possible around London at the time he would need to leave Southampton) to training is not anything the player or club would be very happy with (the trading ground is on the north part of the M25, if it were the south side then it may not have been a problem?

He lives in Winchester, but yes still a push long term.

Well yeah, I think that’s what he’s getting at. We have places that are just as affluent and upper class not too far away as you have outside the city, what is the draw of London anymore? The city itself is a dump, he’s right.

I have thought for years that the London attraction comes more from the wives personally. Obvs, if Chelsea and Everton are in for the same player, thats different, but like you say, London offers little of substance that Liverpool and Manchester (and surrounding area) cant.

Its not though is it, it’s a huge city with some amazing areas and some not so nice areas... like most massive cities. Guess what type of area a multi millionaire footballer is going to live in... it’s not going to be Peckham is it.

If you're young, enjoy city life/going out and can afford it London is comfortably the best city in the country to live in.

London is utterly boss. Especially if you have money.

Apart from it being a nightmare logistically if travelling anywhere by car, and a horrid blend of cesspit and Toryville.

Not for me I am afraid. Love visiting it, usually for work back in the day, but always needed a good shower when I got home.

Thread? Oh, that Southampton player. Arsed either way if I am honest.

….. 2 days ago bid accepted, he was at FF to agree terms, since then absolutely nothing apart from endless pages of speculation and drivel on here, don't understand why you waste time discussing a player who obviously doesn't want to play for us. Southern daily Echo has had you lot right off

Sorry to spoil your image but London is staunch Labour and have had a Muslim labour mayor for years.

So much more to do here than any other city. Liverpool feels tiny whenever I go back.

And yes, not that fussed if we get him or not. I trust Carlo and Brands to have a few players to fit a certain profile.

At the risk of losing losing every penny £20 million.
Southampton will probably sell but as the player has a major part on any deal then Southampton would have to take whatever a club offers by a club the player WANTS to sign for,
ie, whatever the buyer offers.
I take your point, but if you set that precedent then you risk of being lowballed and being viewed as a pushover. If you stick to a fair price and the buying club baulks, the player risks the move falling apart as the buying club may have to look elsewhere.
The risk for the player is that the move may never materialise. They may be better settling for the first offer.
There are loads of factors at play. Spurs will want him for a rock bottom price and a rock bottom salary. It may still collapse on the second part.
It also depends how long Saint are willing to play hardball. I could see Everton and Spurs missing out and him ending up at Wolves.

It’s just a really weird way to talk mate.

Thats why I couldnt live in London, nor the surrounding area. Its too big for me.

But like you say, we have to trust them to get this shambles of a midfield (dont laugh at the back), mended.

Indeed, always makes me chuckle seeing people who don’t live here try and tell people who do live here how rubbish it is, as if they think they are going to convince Londoners that their lived reality is false lol

Im sure there are people living here who don’t enjoy it though but I’d imagine that to be the case in just about every town and city in the world.
