It hasn’t paid dividends though has it? They’ve been a top 6 club for ages (being the only one to achieve nothing) nothing more, nothing less and actually look to be on the down now. Hardly ambitious. They’ve also squandered huge money on everybody they bought when they sold Bale, on Ndombele and Lo Celso and Fernandes when they inevitably have to buy them and also by sacking Poch and bringing in Mourinho on what I’d expect to be high wages so you’ll have to do better there.

I don’t get why you seem to think I’m trying to say we’re any better because I know we’re not, we’re crap but Spurs aren’t some glorious beacon of football either.

But back on topic I see no reason why PEH wouldn’t go to either club but if I were him I’d run my contract down, leave on a Bosman and get a huge money move to a better club than both.
What does that have to do with ambition? Ambition is something you go for with yearning; a wanting and desire. Whether a person, club or organisation actually achieves it or not is a different matter. In a footballing context, it's difficult thing to do with so many competition. It does not mean it's a lack of ambition. They got to CL final - that's an unbelievable feat conserving they didn't spend massively that season as well but were astute with their signings. The fact they've developed as a top 6 club is a feat we could only wish for. Their ambition is creating the best stadium in the world which will enable them to compete for years to come.

I think Ndomele was a great buy but Mourinho has rubbed him up the wrong way. Lo Celso has actually worked out for them and is still settling. Sissoko wasn't great and guess who tried to sign him before they came in for him? So this is why I dont know why were so focused on PEH. Whenever we feel underwhelmed about a potential signing, that player usually bombs. Same scenario. I'd rather he go to Spurs to dodge yet another bullet.

I'd be happy if he joins because we have an absolutely shocking absence of 1) ball-winners and 2) leaders, and this guys seems to excel at both. Between that and getting a deal done early, I'd rather it happen than not. But I also don't think he's a player to get too worked up about if we don't seal it. I do worry about the recovery pace on counters if the set up is 4-4-2 with him and Gomes.

You are VERY welcome to have an opinion and I'm VERY welcome to challenge your opinion, there is no right and wrong, only peoples opinion.

Agree with that, I'd say it's relatively rare that there's such a story and it could all be rubbish but it does smell pretty fishy to me. We'll probably never know for sure until he's finished playing and someone asks him the question.

I've sent him a tweet and will let you know the outcome.

And what the seller will settle for!

At the risk of losing losing every penny £20 million.
Southampton will probably sell but as the player has a major part on any deal then Southampton would have to take whatever a club offers by a club the player WANTS to sign for,
ie, whatever the buyer offers.

Sissoko

Oh my days

Most players don't actually live near where the teams play football but near to where the teams train. Totnam's training ground used to be at affluent Chigwell but is now on the M25 near a lot of also affluent areas.
Also, Watford and Arsenal have training grounds 20 yards away from each other, also both a little further along on the M25 so I would guess a fair few players from all 3 teams could live very near to each other in big houses in beautiful villages.

I assume it's the same for most teams players and Everton's players don't live near Goodison but live in more affluent areas?

I don't think the city/area affects much where players go these days. Unless its bright lights for young fools, and Hojbjerg is not one of them.
It used to be that Saints used the New Forest and other scenic areas to attract players (its how they got Keegan back in the day). The only geographic advantage Spurs have is that he wouldn't have to move, commuting in would be an option (58min by rail from where he lives).

I think his partner still lives in Denmark, what're the flights like between Liverpool and there?

Well yeah, I think that’s what he’s getting at. We have places that are just as affluent and upper class not too far away as you have outside the city, what is the draw of London anymore? The city itself is a dump, he’s right.

If he were to sign for Spurs I think a daily round trip of around a no traffic four hours (which isn't possible around London at the time he would need to leave Southampton) to training is not anything the player or club would be very happy with (the trading ground is on the north part of the M25, if it were the south side then it may not have been a problem?

Place is a complete and utter crime-ridden dump, but carry on.

Its not though is it, it’s a huge city with some amazing areas and some not so nice areas... like most massive cities. Guess what type of area a multi millionaire footballer is going to live in... it’s not going to be Peckham is it.

If you're young, enjoy city life/going out and can afford it London is comfortably the best city in the country to live in.
