I got down to those first 22 and kept 2, possibly 4, Baines...1 year, Lookman and the 2 loanees

From now until 2021 we will have (and have had) over 23 players out of contract (including Mirallas and ive still forgotten one or two others).

Gana's finishes in 2022.

That is literally only 2 seasons away. During that time there will be a step by step gradual rebuild and then once we have this enormous waste in wages off the books we will be able to go big again. Then another 12 (incl gana) in 2022.

2 seasons of gradual rebuild until 2021. Then 2 big summers.


No matter who the manager is he will NOT be able to make huge changes without a large amount of players sold before 2021 or he will need to wait until then.

The more players we can sell the faster the changes can happen.

Just need to get in the right players, which isn’t easy or it starts all over again.

It’s not going to be straight forward, we’ll need Brands and Silva to be very successful and very much in sync with what their plans are or it could go wrong.

Of that entire list, the only two I don’t begrudge is Baines and Jags who have both been fine servants. The rest, my God!
