Player Power and Influence

Thanks, but I think you said it very well origanlly mate.

It really is starting to grind my gears how these fraud footballers can get away with crap like this, and I am also falling out of love with football.

This type of thing is exactly what is wrong with our squad of cowboys and how they have done for several managers by downing tools and giving up any time there was anything on the line or times got tough - I'm sick of them all.

If Levy & the spurs directors had anything about them they should have hired Conte, backed their choice of manager and transfer listed all the dissidents in the dressing room.
Our squad hasn't downed tools since Martinez

They gave up last season mate, and have done a few times since Martinez - I used to blame the managers (Silva/Koeman), and whilst they were not totally blameless (Silva was just out of his depth/moonhead is an arrogant buffoon) its the absolute cowards and wasters in our squad who have got them the sack by not being arsed.

I saw this article on Reddit this morning and it irked me somewhat. I recall hearing similar thoughts about Conte when he was manager of Chelsea, that he worked the players too hard and that the players weren’t happy with him, despite winning the league the year prior.

Having spent a little bit of time reading the thoughts of Spurs fans there’s a notion that the club has a problem with player influence. In short, the players seemingly don’t want a manager that is going to work them hard.

I’m fast losing interest in football. I see stories like this and it reminds me of the huge power and influence that players have in the game now. It’s all about them it seems. We see it frequently when players seemingly down tools or lose interest because they’re not being treated the way they want to be treated.

I think the Bosman rule could also do with a rework, as in its current form it gives players all the power.
Totally agree. If they were paid a pittance I'd have some sympathy for them having to work hard for a few hours a week to be successful at a hobby. They're not paid a pittance though, so should be expected to work hard to earn it.

As a fan, all I ask for is that I see players putting in effort. Their role in the team may not require much effort so then it comes down to flair and talent, however I still want to see them want to play for the fans.

If this is true then the Spurs players are an absolute disgrace to the game. It will put fans off, I mean who wants to spend 60+ a week to watch players who you know cannot be arsed to do a bit more running during the week.

As has been said, the game is going to pot and it because of these players who just think they should be allowed to turn up and not care and then still be adulated by people who are spending a relative fortune to watch them kick a ball about a park.

The only person who gave up last season was Carlo Ancelotti

Player power set Liverpool back years.

Roy Evans couldn’t get his head round it.

Story of a mobile phone going off during his team talk and the player ( McManaman I think ?) answered it.
Evans goes mad and Ince steps in and has a pop at Evans.
