Players Out on Loan 2022/23

You’d hope so. If, big if, we’re still in the prem, I’m not sure Dyche would play him - could imagine him growling something in a press conference like “people forget he’s still a young lad, he’s not premier league proven”…

Manager’s like Dyche and Moyes think centre back is the hardest position to give a young player a chance at - too risk averse.
Sadly, I think you could be right about that if we stay up. If I recall correctly, Nathan Collins only became a regular for Burnley after Dyche left. And if we are relegated, we will be forced to sell anyone we can to balance the books - I can't imagine there will be a queue of clubs lining up to sign Keane and Holgate so we will probably be stuck with them plus Tarkowski. Really disappointing as he is exactly the type of player we should be building the team around.

Nah Collins had already come into the side before Dyche left so clearly he will pick a young centre half if he believes they're good enough.

Really hope we get to see him back in the side next season him and tark as the starting cb
Bringing Branthwaithe back and his role will hugely depend on in which division we are:

Championship then he (also Cannon and maybe Warrington) must be part of the 1st team squad.

Stay in PL Branthwaite might be 3rd/4th choice CB so we can spend our limited resources somewhere else. Ceetainly with Mina walking on a free and maybe someone foolish enough to pay a good fee for Holgate :)

Ah, yes you are right. Dyche wasn't sacked until mid April. For some reason I thought he left earlier. Collins was introduced to the side at the beginning of March by Dyche so some hope he will trust Branthwaite.

Ben Mee got injured, and to be fair i don't like Dyche, and i do think he has the mindset that's being spoken about but i think in this situation was that Collins was coming into a club were the 2 centre backs were mainstays for a good while, so it would of needed an injury to displace one.

Id hope not, he seems to be a sought after player and you want him to be 3/4th choice? There is absolutely no way we can do a whole season of Tarkowski and Keane at the back, they are both far, far too slow for this level. Also we had a reasonably decent record until Keane was brought back in and now we are conceding goals for fun.

Same this is how we to keep him by showing him a path to the first team. He will still have to impress with pre season, but would be a pkayer we should be looking to build on

If we do go down it would be an ideal opportunity to get Branthwaite straight into the team, but with bigger clubs sniffing the need to raise funds might trump that. If the likes of United are sniffing we could possibly do a a sale with loan back I guess.

Becoming first choice in the PL is still a massive step up from where he is at the moment. Not saying he can't do it but we shouldn't get too carried away with how good he's likely to be and just assume that he's going to come back here and be great as a first choice starter. Being a rotation option who got 12-15 starts in the PL would still be pretty good going for a centre half who'll only just have turned 21, there won't be many clubs at this level who'll be telling him he's going to start every week I don't think.

He has played in the league before and has also played in European competition this season. He is a big unit (what Dyche wants) and he is quick (which is what's needed) We need to be making the most of our young talent and trying to get the best out of them. Give him a pre season and get him involved, Id be willing to bet he is a vast improvement on Keane.

I don't disagree with any of that. I was just commenting on him maybe being 3rd choice. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case if he moved elsewhere either. Playing centre half in the PL at 21 is tough, not many people do it with any great success. It's not impossible and i'm not saying he can't, just that as always we shouldn't get too carried away and have players down as nailed on starters and improvements before they've actually shown they can do it. Him coming back here and being a viable option to play with some regularity would be great, we need to be careful not to see it as a disappointment if he's not coming back and making himself undroppable and getting into the England side straight away.

Fofana was playing in the league at 17 mate, also Saliba at Arsenal is only just 22, Guehi at Palace only just 22. These players are not an option unless you actually give them a chance which is something we never do. We would much rather play a proven failure than give a talented youngster a chance (its happened under various managers)
Lets see what happens when he comes back in the summer, in all honesty mate I think he will be sold on as an offer will come in and we will take it.
