Players Out on Loan 2022/23

We will as no one will buy them.

Whether we can survive financially is different story. Suppose the parachute payments help
Tarkowski will get a move easy and Keane nearly went under Lampard. Tarkowski has already named on a list with Pickford, Onana, Dom, and Branthwaite as players who will be sold if we go down. Highest wage down there is something like £40k per week, even Mykolenko is on more than that. We will need to sell a lot of players otherwise we are going to be in even more of a mess.

There’s no doubt we will be trapped with some big earners and a high wage bill but we can probably offset that for a season with the sales and the parachute payment. Plus, although diminished, our income will be the highest in the league.

We’ll need 100m plus in sales but that is doable with the players who will leave. Plus with Mina and Doucoure OOC we are probably looking at minimum 6 players on about 5m each leaving, so 30m saved. More big earners leaving would be ideal but the combination of sales and savings probably at least keeps the wolf from the door.

After all the earlier exitement...

Tom Cannon ended his loan spell at Preston with a 3-0 defeat at home to Sunderland. He was kept on for the whole 90 minutes. They finished 12th.

Talking of high wage players we won't be able to get rid of next season, JP Gbamin got some more minutes under his belt in his return from injury coming on after 74 minutes with Trabzanspor already winning 2-0. It finished that way. They are in 7th but well outside the European places.

I'd take going down just to get Mykolenko off the wage bill

He's right...Branthwaite could easily double in value. At Ajax he'd be worth £40mil today.

So says Aad de Mos; the former PSV, Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax coach delighted to see a pair of Philips Stadium newbies pick up a winners’ medal during last week’s dramatic KNVB Becker final.

“You know what (Branthwaite) is worth to you,” De Mos.

“He can only double his value. I wouldn’t hesitate (to buy him). If you see what Ajax paid for Calvin Bassey (£20 million), you can certainly pay this for him.”

Unfortunately for PSV, things aren’t quite that simple.

According to reports, the Dutch giants failed with a £15 million bid for Branthwaite in January, the now reporting that Everton’s asking price is ‘unfeasible’as far as PSV are concerned.

Big decision coming up on him for next season - how useful is a loan next season - not very given it will bring him up to a year to run on his contract, should we sell - we may need to, bring him back - how much or how little he will be involved - hard to know.

With a contract until 2025, i think what we decide to do with him next year will be telling.

There will be a squad spot going, in Mina, maybe Coady or Holgate also.

All could be influenced by what league we are in of course.

Realistically a starting spot. If he can't beat out Keane, Holgate and Godfrey to partner Tarkowski then we should release him now.
