With Reece Welch recalled, Stanley Mills injured, and Lewis Warrington recalled and injured, there is not much loanee action going on at the moment.

Mason Holgate still couldn't get off the bench as Southampton beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-0. Southampton 3rd but could go 2nd if Ipswich lose this evening.

Chesterfield fielded an academy side in the FA Trophy and lost 2-0 to Welling. After also being rested in the FA Cup last week, Harry Tyrer has been having a mini winter break. He remains 1st choice keeper though.

Zan-Luk Leban apparently made several good saves in Farsley's 2-0 derby win over Scarborough. Farsley are now 14th.

I was at the Welling Vs Chesterfield game today. Very much a team of kids. Welling are my non league team though and wins have been rare so we'll take it.

The loans have been a disaster this season. I'd be inclined to just sell Godfrey and keep Welch with the seniors though. That lot have proved there's really not much of a step up at centre back so long as the rest of the back 4 is settled.

….but they still have to be good enough. I’d be very concerned about Welch’s competitiveness, I’ve seen him bullied out of games at U21 level by competitive strikers. I wondered if he might get caught out on loan and it looks like he’s struggled which is a shame as he’s a terrific athlete.

Quansah looks very decent, he played really well alongside Branthwaite in that recent England game at Goodison.

Elijah Campbell might be one to leapfrog Welch in the pecking order but others will know more about him than me.

It is interesting isn’t it. Whether we like it or not Everton is a business not a football team. If we want the team to be competitive we either need to produce first team players or players that have a value in the market if they are not quite at our level. The development of youth is extremely important to us

Wasnt specifically aimed at Quansah but they've previously used Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips who are hardly world beaters. When we used Browning or Pennington there wasn't too much of a drop off for one game or so.

You'd have to hope training alongside Tarkowski against Beto and DCL under Dyche would help his physicality. I'm not going to write him off yet he has only just turned 20

….he was terrific in that decent FA Youth Cup run a few years ago. i think we won at Chelsea and he didn’t lack for attitude then but I’ve been disappointed since.

For once, I thought a loan spell in open-age would put an edge on his game. Certainly not writing him off, be interesting what happens next.

I know you aren’t keen but I do think Dyche could get a tune out of Godfrey. He has the athleticism and has been a good player in spells. Certainly could be used as our 3rd choice if so

…I was chuffed we signed Godfrey but he’s looked a busted flush this last 12 months. There were more positive signs with his performance at Burnley.

Not Godfreys biggest fan, but we ain’t gonna be spending money on a 3/4th choice CH. I can see either him or Keane going and the other will be here for a while yet.
