I often forget that Martin Keown played for us. He seldom ever seems to refer to his time here, nor do we get any credit for pushing his career on.

dont think he played, was homesick, went home and started to perform again, Forest wanted to take him on but we wouldnt release his registration so couldnt sign for anybody, seemed a bit harsh on him at the time.
Went up the reserves to see him when he came expecting something out of this world he was very average to say the least.
Drew Brand, one and only game leeds away we got hammerd, only about 350-400 of us there, massive kick off after there 4th in are end Leeds fans had sneaked in , it was in the papers the next day,we had about 15 minutes of, your going to get your head kicked in, from 3 sides of the ground very impressive and scary at the time, as was outside.we got kept in the coach park for nearly two hours as they cleared the roads of there fans,who wernt happy to say the least, god help us if we had won.

Was watching the excellent Premier Passions documentary about Sunderland's first season in the Prem (96/97) and was reminded that Alan Thompson used to play on the wing for us. I think we signed him from Bolton.

Warren Aspinall, young goal scorer from wigan i think we loaned him out and he scored a few, bit of a attitude problem held him back.

Peter Billing, dont know how that lad played for us just wasnt up to the standard, think he want to coventry

Paul Holmes, cant recall anything about him other than his name

stuart storer, think he managed about 10 minutes in a freindly, god he was out of his league, came as a makeweight in a scam to stop his former club, having to pay a sell on for the other player in the double deal, to his former club, for the life of me i cant recall who it was?
John Hills, looked half decent till injury set him back
