Playing in the Premier League

As an overseas supporter, the reason I desperately want to stay up is the fact that following a non-PL team is somewhere between difficult and impossible for us. Best case scenario is that 10 of the games league games, plus however many we last in the Cups would be televised here in America. Kind of challenging to really keep up with a team when you can only watch about 1 in 4 of their games.

If not for that, I could see how The Championship would appeal to some. No VAR, more competitive league, different away days, chance of maybe someday winning either the league or promotion playoff.
Oh my god is there no VAR in the Championship??

Why are we even debating it? Would gladly get relegated tomorrow for this.

because the prem is the league everyone loves and wants to be in.

no everton supporter wants to be in the s***** championship

and we would never come back

we have to stay in this league

Sounds like a G Neville or Carra soundbite - two reps of clubs who'll always have a bite of the cherry from now until the end of time due to the rules and corruption in place to keep them relevant.

The only good thing about the PL for the other 14 sides is the TV money and even that will go should the ESL ever happen and the scab 6 breakaway if needed be.

Not that I want to be in it cos its a ridiculous league to try to get out of - but the championship is one of the more entertaining leagues in football imo. This is without me having any emotional attachment to a team in it that being said, but its not a crap league mate, far from it.

We don't want to be there, there is no scenario I want us to be relegated, and I think we would probably not be seen for a fair few years if it does happen...

We would also be the prize for every side in that league, they would see us as a trophy, and looking at our heartless squad thinking they can get a result against us.

so the premier league for us is a must

Because even though the PL is becocming more and more closed and biased towards the top teams.

There is always ambition your club MAY become one, or better them.

No matter how false-hope Everton are, even false hope has hope in it.

I still genuinely strive for Europe. That’s got to be the end goal at all times, right?
Europe is enable by success in the league and/or trophies.

Being out the Premier League effectively wipes out our chances of that happening, as we have seen recently with the likes of Huddersfield, Watford, Norwich, that the gulf is extraordinary between the top of the Championship and the bottom of the Premier League, very few survive, then sustain and even when they do it’s because they’re pumped with money or have a lucky bounce.

Going down reduced revenue, removes the attraction because what we perceive ourselves to be, a “big” side, means nothing in the Championship.

I don’t care about the history, about the side with the most years. I care about now. I don’t want to be the next Portsmouth, Oldham, Coventry, Wigan who tumble all the way down.

I don't want to see us relegated, but we are where we deserve to be. the fact that we have squandered our games in hand just proves how bad the current squad is.

If we go down and stay down for years it won't affect my attachment to the club, after all we have been under-achievers for most of my life. The titles and cup wins were enjoyable but fleeting. My favourite Everton memories do not revolve around those trophies but are drawn from great games, moments of sparkling football, or fun trips with friends and family.

I won't miss the premier league bandwagon and the media focus with the big-money clubs, shortly to be joined by Newcastle. I very rarely watch any non-Everton games so it won't be a stretch for me.

Same - championship would be impossible to follow.

I just don't understand why in this day and age, we don't have coverage for all leagues. Like the actual league itself, Championship, League 1, League 2 just broadcast the match and livestream it over youtube. or even a fan, maybe Everton fans want to take a camera and just livestream it for the rest of us.

I also don't understand how the NBA has something like the League Pass, and I can watch all the games live and on demand, and there isn't something like that for football. and i don't want it for one league, I want it for all the leagues all over the world, and I just pick and choose what I want to watch anytime. It'd all just be a matter of organisation.

All we have is ESPN's football scoreboard that shows stats and scores of games, we need a way to watch all these games.

Because no matter how badly we have been ran, we are Everton, one of the biggest clubs in England and we should be playing at the highest level and always have during my 54 years here on Planet Earth. Being in the championship is unthinkable and unnaceptable to me and that's not being elitist, it is simply who we are.

Pretty sure they don't have full fledged VAR, but do have goal line technology in place. I went to Fulham/Bournemouth back in December and don't recall it being used. Such a difference to the enjoyment of watching in person when VAR doesn't cast a pall over every single decision the refs make.

Quality of football, and obviously there are 2 teams playing every week so out history is interconnected with that of the opposition.

Who cares about everton v luton ?

Plus the pride ( that which remains ) of the fans in believing we are a big club.
