Almost got valencia relegated from 3rd the previous season

finished 3rd with benfica in a 3 horse race

won a cup at feyenoord in 3 seasons

sacked after a few months at AZ

hasnt lasted over a year at 5 of 8 clubs...

hes awful.

He also won the cup with Valencia, a cup with Feyenoord, he left Benfica by is own valitition becuase he got a more appealing offer he also won the super cup there. Ill give AZ but in reality he was given a bit over 10 games.

Add that to a couple of doubles in the dutch league, titles a different clubs and cups - i wish we were that bad.

If Koeman leaves Southampton and joins us prior to June, it will mean he's spent two years or more at only 2 clubs out of his 9 to date.

Yeah thats a concern all right i would like something more long term and the oppurtunity for foundations and building, i think the Esk's point about a director of football is an interesting one, i think in that structure if done well the coach has less importance, the like sof Swansea and Southampton themselves mangage transtition relatively well.

But wouldnt be my ideal choice.

always said De Boer but hearing from Ajax fans he isn't all he's cracked up to be. Koeman is proven in the prem I suppose, I'm so undecided.

Koeman. Had Leicester not done what they have Koeman would be Manager of the year. Selling all thier best talent and improving them, now that is phenomeninal Roberto

I have not included Mourinho because we know it would be a landslide. I have not included Pellegrini because it's safe to say we'd know what to expect from his consistent demeanour and methods of achieving top 2/3/4 results for that club and previous inspiring successes in Spain. We know the pros and cons.

I didn't include Cocu because he's not been mentioned by itks or twitter etc., I just felt with suggestions Koeman was a suitable candidate and likely appointment, and the fact Frank De Boer is also Dutch and at least online, getting grief from his own supporters, and had such a massive backing in the main vote, and lastly whose agent said he'd love to manage us, it had to be De Boer vs Koeman

Another way I see it is that Koeman is more Van Gaal/Hiddink, while Cocu and De Boer are more Cruyff/Guardiola.

The wow factor would be there with De Boer and I think we would love him. And Goodison would shine again. He would sign experienced players but also give youth a chance. It would be so exciting. I agree with those underwhelmed by Koeman, and like others, would prefer the cunningness of Pellegrini.

I originally wanted De Boer but then thought Low would be good(had second thought thanks to @MoutsGoat detective work on his club record, still would though.)

Dutch coaches tend to be tactically good and blood youth.

Think for a DOF you need a head coach like de boer rather than a manager like koeman.

3 charity shields and did a Martinez in the cup once or twice. has not won a league title for 9 years

why do you prefer Koeman to De Boer? it's the everton caution or you actually think it'd be as fun as with De Boer?

I have a good few friends in Amsterdam who dont rate De Boer, i actually mentioned him when Moyes left, but my pals dont rate him at all, especially some of his decisons on getting rid of players and recruitment, they would broadly feel he has a soft underbelly.

I want a manager capable of building something, astute tactically or rather balanced between attack and defense. A manager with a record of putting a pathway in place for young talent and has a distinct philosphey, standards tactical varience, solidity, creative football and decent recuritment. Koeman wouldnt have been my first choice - but then many would pick Koeman over my preffered choice, but the more i review it as an appointment the more he ticks all the boxes. When people talk about the winning mentality you have to laugh, how many great teams has he be in as a player and his collection of trophies won from that point of view is ridiculous. Hes pretty much won tropheys at the majority of clubs hes been at and when you look at the job he did at Southampton in two season given the context of what he walked into - that a brilliant job - if he can get to europa League spots without resources, i think with more he has a strong likelyhood of acheiveing CL and more.

I think it funny that people want De Boer and Cocu, they have basically acheived similar accolades as Koeman - but far less. Mourhino would be a disaster for the club, i was warming toward Pellegrini - given his work with young players this season.
