Yeah - know many Sunderland fans who didn’t want him then when he took over had the players really fit and playing well and they were gutted when he left

It seems he curses clubs he leaves though Sunderland went down the season after and Palace look likely

Everton that is now Allardyce that

The fact that teams dramatically deteriorate as soon as he leaves suggests that he is an over-achiever, a miracle worker almost.

A miracle worker is exactly what a team like ours needs.

Some media outlets are saying that the board are reluctant to appoint Big Sam because it means they would have to pay Crystal Palace £2,000,000.

I'd rather we lost that £2,000,000 and stayed up than saved it and got relegated. Relegation itself would cost the club in excess of £100,000,000, even if we got promoted straightaway.

Cannot see that it's true Gaz.
He wasn't sacked, he resigned. You don't have to pay money out for someone who quit and isn't obliging the terms of their contract.

The Palace Board only accepted his resignation because he said he wasn't going to another Club. Palace terminated his contract with the understanding that if he got another job in football within what would have been the lifetime of the contract then they would be owed £2M compensation.
It was widely reported at the time

Ah fair my Lord. Didn't know any of that.

In what way would this be owt to do with us anyway?

Since he left Palace he has been at Sunderland and managed England.

Surely Sunderland would have copped for the £2 million.....if indeed such a clause existed in t’ first place.

Agreed it has to be Sam now, we need a specialist at the helm - the likes of Dyche and probably even Silva would take us down. Tuchel is Fantasy Island stuff.

Yeah I’m sure I read that it was around £2m , not exactly sure how long it was before he could take another job but definitely read or heard it .

Given that palace absolutely crucified Pulis I’d think both us and Sam would have to be careful if reports linking us are true .

He did his 6 month stint at Palace during the second half of last season, then said he wanted out of his contract after a good friends wife died in the Manchester Terrorist attack.
There were a few other Clubs circling so Palace only agreed to let go if he agreed they'd get compensation if he got another job before his contract would have run out.

It would be the very falsest of false economies.

I don't really want Big Sam but sadly the situation we are in it's needs must.

It's not about playing entertaining football, or challenging for honours, right now we need to get out the mire and I think Allardyce is the man to do it.

I'd have no qualms in giving him a deal until next summer. Crook or no crook.
