@Mikey_Fitzgerald is having a mare here isn't he!

theres still time mike, if you apologise in full right now!

lol

How on earth am I "having a 'mare"?

I've explained cogently and reasonably why I don't want Wenger in the below extract

I'm not saying Wenger would take us in a catastrophic direction or anything

However, his arrival would essentially just translate to us continuing to tread water

If we want stability then we already have Allardyce who, crap though he is, would maintain the status quo at the very least

I thought the reason we wanted Allardyce gone was because he was taking us no where and keeping us stagnant? What's Wenger going to do instead? Have us do a few more tekkers sure, but would he really kick us on?

No, he wouldn't

The time for short term fixes needs to be over

Find someone young, hungry and let them put a plan in place. If they're unproven to a certain degree yet then fine, bring in Wenger in an advisory capacity if he's available and fancies doing it. Couldn't hurt could it?

Whatever we do the next step needs to be with an eye for the long term, and that isn't Wenger as a manager, regardless of how great he once was

I have given full credit to him for his achievements, but I think he's a spent force. I've done so by making arguments and not having personal digs at other posters

If that's "having a 'mare" then fine, a "'mare" I shall have

Not really, he's absolutely right.

Why when people disagree with you do you claim they are launching a personal sleight?

"this hatred of him and love of dyche perhaps comes from somewhere else"

That's an insinuation towards me mate

I haven't said anything of the kind in regards to Walken or yourself

Again, I've explained calmly and cogently my objection to Wenger as Everton manager, and it's not even from a perspective that I think Dyche is loads better

Does the next manager have to be Dyche? No

Do I like Dyche and think he'd do well if given a chance? Yes

But that's not got anything to do with why I don't want Wenger

Wenger deserves due credit for all of his previous accomplishments but, to me, he's a short term appointment when we need to be thinking long term, so it's a no from me. I just don't think he has it any more. If he comes in to advise someone else then fine, but I wouldn't want him having the reigns

Literally mindblown by how many "Oui" votes there are on this one.

Considering Wenger for manager is a little bit like when you fall for that bird at school that's absolutely bangin - but never made a move because you never felt like you were in her league.

She grows up, moves to Runcorn, has 3 kids with double barreled first names to a fella named Webbo - gets divorced but keeps the the house.

It's 15 years later and you're out with the lads on a day sesh, sinking on average 11 pints of Staropramen an hour.
It's late, and you consider heading off - but Popworld beckons.

You enter. She's there. Dropping it to Eiffel 65 with her mates, whilst duel wielding WKD Red.

Do you go for it, based on what she used to be. Or make a move, before she gets any worse.

Seriously though, are we messing even discussing this relic?!

do you not think us getting Wenger in , even in the short term would not transform the way our club conducts its business, on AND off the field.

I think his first task would be to tell Moshiri to get rid of the utter shambles that is kenwright and his boardroom cronies.

that would be a great start.

wenger will be able to see thro all the BS that runs our club and get it somewhat orgainised.

he is solely responsible for the way Arsenal have been run for the last 20 years. I think he would enjoy a fresh challenge to be honest, and he is exactly what we nned

with dein apparently in the frame too, this could transform us in to a legit top 4 / 6 club

No, I really don't think it would. It would keep us pretty much exactly where we are, 8th/7th

Why would he do that? He's put up with board room chicanery at Arsenal for years. He's practically a puppet there for Kronke and Gazidis. Why would he suddenly start tearing our boardroom apart?

Any decent manager could do that. Allardyce pretty much has already. We're far more organised now, everyone just hates the football

Well Arsenal went from a team winning leagues and getting to European finals to scrapping for sixth with a team that has about 1/66th of a budget to them, so what does that say about him if he's been solely responsible for it all?

Yes..... if he changes his philosophy back to what made Arsenal successful in the first place. Building teams full of leaders with strong, powerful, fast players, deadly counter attacks, and any potential counter-attack of the other team would be met with a professional foul. Not, a poor mans Barcelona with weak minded players.

20 + years of European football, all but 2 Champions league footy.

the bloke knows how to build a team and go for trophies.

the Arsenal fans have hounded him out as if he were Sam Allardyce.

they want to try supporting us for a year or 2, they would beg for Wenger again.

I think he has had his hands tied financially speaking the last ten years, but has still made them competitive even in the city era
