He's finished at the top level

FINISHED

With a much better Arsenal squad than what we have at Everton he's done comparatively F All this season when put against his contemporaries

Once the great innovator, he's now thoroughly old hat

I could maybe understand if he was a senior figure at the club assisting both DoF and Manager, but as manager? No way
As a short term solution, I think he’d do more and be a safer bet than some of the people we could end up bringing in.

Im not saying he’d be my first choice, but I’d have absolutely no problem with him coming here.

Wenger earnt the right to buy those players. Don’t knock his record, it’s embarrassing.

I'm not knocking his record

He's achieved great things. In the past

He's done the same job for the past 22 years; Manage Arsenal football club

He's thrown everything into managing that specific club, in his own specific way, with a specific support system around him

He doesn't know how to manage a football club any more. He just knows how to manage Arsenal

Seriously everyone, trust me on this, Wenger is DONE at the top level. He's managed to get some cups in the bag with Arsenal recently yes, but that's because he knows how to manage Arsenal and had some favourable draws along the way. He wouldn't have won those cups with another team, they were a consequence of him knowing that particular club inside out

I'm not saying we have to specifically get Dyche, Howe, Silva, Fonseca etc instead or anything like that, but our next manager should not be a guy who is way past his best, and who has overseen a continuous decline at his current club over the course of a decade

Yeah, we'd love some FA Cups here, but it's a comparative failure at Arsenal and also I don't believe he'd be able to win them with us anyway

We need someone young who is hungry. If Wenger comes in as an advisor to that person then fine, but he shouldn't be the manager

weve just hired sam allardyce who has a footballing style from the 70's mate.

Wenger is light years ahead of allardyce, so we would jump at the chance of signing him.

WENGER has Everton written allover him, from our boards point of view.

Oh yeah, he wouldn't relegate us or anything like that, like I fear a Howe or possibly Silva would

I'm not saying Wenger would take us in a catastrophic direction or anything

However, his arrival would essentially just translate to us continuing to tread water

If we want stability then we already have Allardyce who, crap though he is, would maintain the status quo at the very least

I thought the reason we wanted Allardyce gone was because he was taking us no where and keeping us stagnant? What's Wenger going to do instead? Have us do a few more tekkers sure, but would he really kick us on?

No, he wouldn't

The time for short term fixes needs to be over

Find someone young, hungry and let them put a plan in place. If they're unproven to a certain degree yet then fine, bring in Wenger in an advisory capacity if he's available and fancies doing it. Couldn't hurt could it?

Whatever we do the next step needs to be with an eye for the long term, and that isn't Wenger as a manager, regardless of how great he once was

I’ll be honest mate, I don’t see us breaking into the top 6 any time soon, so although a lot of managers including allardyce would have us finishing 7/8th, I’d rather someone who will do it with a bit of flair and excitement.

Honestly if we can't break into the Top Six anyway then why even waste the money replacing Allardyce in the first place?

7th via loads of passing and 7th via lumping it to the big man are all still 7th at the end of the day

We have to believe we can crack the top 6 or why even bother?

A totally different level of manager than we've had for donkey's years.
I don't think he'd be around for long, but given say 3 seasons he could transform us.

it all boils down to the board, and as allardyce eluded to on the radio yesterday, Everton are in no postion to challenge the top 4, top 6 is where we aim.

its that simple.

our board know they would have to pump probly 500m into the squad to get anywhere near the top 4, which they will not be doing.

and this is why we are sticking with Sam Allardyce.

we have zero ambition at board level. 6th or 7th is like winning the league to them

Only if he brings the fat Russian with him.

I wonder if he would work upstairs with a young energetic Manager.

They don't need to pump 500m in at all

They just need the right manager who can get the players gelling together, a competent DoF who can buy well and to make the most of our excellent youth set up to bring young players through, thus growing our own stars

Basically, we need someone progressive, which neither Allardyce or Wenger are right now

Once upon a time both were ahead of the curve in their own ways (Allardyce with sports science, Wenger with tactics) but those days are over for both of them
