POLL: Would you like David Moyes back as Everton manager?

We had a better year in bobbys first, and considering the squad along with the money mosh is supposedly putting in, top 5-6 shouldnt be to difficult of the bat

Be amazed if we spend more money than any of United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham.

If you want top 5 straight away then you're probably going to want the new manager sacked by this time next year. There is so much to sort out here. The defence needs to start from scratch again and that'll take time.

Nothing wrong with the players in the defence, its the set up and lack of work we do on it

That'll take time though. It's the whole team that needs sorting, not just the defenders.

Look at the work Barkley does off the ball (or lack of), a new manager is going to have reshape his game, deal with likelihood of losing Stones and Lukaku leaving, as well as handle the fact the Euros are going to have a huge impact on pre season.

Honestly, next season is going to be such a tough job for the incoming manager. Managing these new found expectations from fans only makes it even more difficult.

I think he earned that opportunity by always showing signs of pushing the team forward. He benefited from the longevity of his reign and so did we.

Did he show signs of pushing us forward? I dont think he did after the initial jump from lower reach premier league team to top 8 team.

That's not to say he didn't do a good job, he did and it would be churlish to say otherwise.

I disagree strongly with this. Only Jagielka can defend well. Baines and Coleman have never been good defensively, they are attacking full backs. Stones and Mori are more footballing centre backs with massive flaws. Some of the young lads could be decent though.

Where were we going without investment apart from challenging for the top 4? It's hard enough now, but back when Moyes was here the top teams were a different class.

Anything more than that and you have a miracle worker on your hands.

Part of one of the best defences in europe only 2 seasons ago. Coached right they'll be sound

I'd hate to see Moyes back at Everton. I think we should be looking at a bright new era, not looking to the past. He's failed in his two posts since he chose to leave Everton anyway, people complain that we employed Martinez when he'd been a failure at his previous club.

...yeah, they avoided being Wigertonised by Bobby...

Coleman often is and can be excellent defensively. I've not seen one winger come off better against for a few seasons. Yeah, he's had lapses in concentration and looked a bit dodgy in a positional sense but in a decent set up he won't be a problem.

Again I disagree. It depends what you class as a good defence.

I dont base it on clean sheets or whatever (its part of it obviously..) to me a good defence doesnt crack under pressure. It stands up when under the cosh in the big games. That is something that most of this defence (and indeed a lot of the squad in general) has never been able to do.

Mentality is a big part of defending and for me they simply dont have that in them. How many times have we failed to turn up in big games?

Its a funny one really as they are all individually good players and when you see people doing a bit of fantasy squad rebuilding a lot of people seem to keep the back four intact even though its an obvious issue. If I was the next manager (and I may be offered the job the way things are going....) I would be tempted to rip the whole defence up and start again.

He has the pace to make up for his shortcomings I think. He is far to ill disciplined in his positioning and like Baines struggles to stop crosses coming in. Thats OK to an extent as they obviously offer lots going forward.

On the limited stuff I have seen Jonjoe Kenny is the one for me. I thought he was tremendous against Norwich. A proper old school full back performance.

Well he would improve the defensive side of the game.

But manager's who return for a 2nd time at clubs it mostly never ends up being the same as the 1st time.

Recently Mourinho's ended up being a disaster.
