I would not be surprised if the dof appointment is not made for months.
If there is no obvious available candidate then why rush? It is a long term role anyway and even if Koeman were to leave at some stage in the future the dof would stat in place.

Initially , the squad will be filled with players that Koeman needs now to fill the gaps, at this stage it is the manager and scouts who will make the choices. In the longer term the dof will be watching for talent around the world to see what is available whenever we need players.

I would agree with this, I am not getting the same urgency. I think they will be prepared to wait for the right candidate. Rumours of David Dein and other board members coming on mean we have something of a buffer anyway. Koeman will identify his targets this summer anyway.

Also agreed (consensus amongst Evertonians :) ).

We are too far down the line now with transfer planning this summer (I hope, at least) for a DoF to make much of an impact, even if appointed before the window shuts.

This summer it will be largely Koeman's imprint as to who is going to be joining us. In January/next summer, it should be more of a collaborative effort although I hope the structure is such that Koeman has the final decision on movements in/out of the first-team squad with a DoF acting in a consultative capacity in that regard both to the board and manager, in addition to his other duties.

While i agree it doesnt seem as urgent - we do need to have a clear plan about what we are doing moving forward, depending on how the club sees the role (from glorified head scout - overseeing of style and everything off the pitch), we still need to plan.

As of right now, i believe we have no head scout. I think Monchi would have been the one who would have removed the need for that, but we still need a head scout.
