Possible Director of Football

:)

on a serious point though, how upset the team your poaching off are over losing someone can when you have little else to go on be a decent barometre of if there decent like

Leicester fans - and seemingly ones who know a bit about the dynamics of the club, seem absolutely devestated at losing him, which is for me a positive like
It may well be the amount of their players and now staff who are all seemingly trying to get out while their stock is high that maybe causing them to wobble.
The title was a one off for them, once they get their heads round that, they will hopefully find their true level.
A few good bummings in the CL and a poor league position at Xmas wil also bring the what I believe is the inevitable reality check.

To be honest, as long as he doesn't bring in the likes of Niasse, Kone, Alcaraz and Cleverley I think he will have done a great job!
You don't need a director of football to recognise those players weren't good enough for EFC. The supporters had reservations about all those signings, makes you wonder what Martinez saw, that was in contrast to what the fans could see.

Are you able to find positivity in anything Everton related mate?
Is it wrong to be cautious when we've not actually done anything that we're supposedly working on?

The negative group are simply saying things you don't want to hear or believe. I don't either. I want us to spend silly money and win loads of stuff like anyone. But until we actually buy some players, caution is completely reasonable. And in reaction to the overwhelming majority acting like we're already at the top table caution can easily manifest as negativity.

I tend to take the neutral view. The summer likely won't be as good a we dream...but it'll probably still be much better than we're used to. Which is fine. Things take time. Koeman is an upgrade on Martinez. A DoF would be a good thing (in my opinion) unless we have a unique manager (we don't). Noises on the stadium move sound good...although that takes time, so nothing concrete.

Optimism is one thing. But a large chunk of this forum has gone utterly insane with expectation. They will almost certainly be disappointed. Suggesting that isn't really negativity. It's accepting that regardless of Moshiri's vision and checkbook, we aren't Man United right now.

After last seasons mate i give up trying to predict what will happen in this league - likely it will return to normal ofc but honestly who knows

The sucess they ha dwa stoo sudden for them not to be picked apart as well really, theres no precedant that they can sustain it from a gradual building towards being a CL calibre team so all the best players will be looking at jumping ship when they can get the best deal

Actually think even if they kept the team together though that the rest of the league MUST have cottoned onto the way they play and won't suicidally play a high line etc though and let them be a counter attack energizer bunny

The Leicester fans are going absolutely mental at the prospect of losing him.

Not as mental as people on here but close.

Isnt the key to have at least a modicum of balance though, yeah i'm 'possibly' overly positive about the future, but it doesn't mean every single last one of my posts will be banging on about the great future and such like mate.

But for example, posters who see every last thing the club does or possibly will do in the worst negative light and feel the need to comment on every thread as such so there is no missing it, then it becomes almost a pantomine act, in a similarl way that anyone who thinks absolutely everything the club is doing or will do is the best thing since sliced bread are also for want of a better word 'unbeleivable' as being genuine and not playing out a role on the forum.

The rest of the League will be quaking now. We got Leicesters head of recruitment. #sarcasm# Forgive me for not being as optimistic as most. Leics were brilliant last season, but they were one of the favs to be relegated the last 2 years & very nearly did. Looking back over this thread I don't think many people, if any would have mentioned him as our DOF. He done brilliant getting Mahrez, Kante etc. Every scout will have success stories on their Cv, his is more notable because of what they went onto achieve, & most recent. who else has he 'found' apart from them? Vardy? Then we get to Danny Simpson & wes Morgan & maybe Huth, who'd be happy if it were us he brought them to? I can't really get overly excited by this.

The point you're missing here is that he has had a big role in turning a nothing club into Premier League winners. He might not be our DoF forever but for him to oversee us bridging the gap from 11th to 4th he is ideal IMO. The experience is fresh on his mind.
