Money talks, the rest is rubbish. Kante telling everyone he was sold on Conte's project. What project would that be, winning the league and getting in the champs league. He was more sold on the extra 50k a week, which is sad as I didn't think he was like that. Drove a mini, wasn't flash at all... just a gut feeling on that one but I think he's been "advised" into it.

If we keep the rest I still think we can cause a few shocks, last 14 prem games without Kante we've only lost 1 game. So it's not like we're [Poor language removed] without the bloke.

Kante will be no way shape or form as good for Chelsea as he was for you lot anyway mate, the system was set up to make him look his best

99% of footballers it's about the money or their profile mate, and the latter leads to the former anyway

Though the door, for Monchi, may in theory have been left open the idea that he might still come seems remote to be generous.
He, apparently, turned down PSG to stay at Sevilla and we, apparently, are making a concerted effort to sign Walsh in the position which strongly indicates we've given up on him. I wouldn't say it would require a miracle but it would require an extraordinary change of heart for Monchi to become our DOF.

Your right mate, Monchi is definitely not coming to Everton! I have some sources from Seville supporters and he is staying there at least for this year.
If he does decide to leave at the end of his contract I would think he will be taking some time out of football and re-energise himself. Maybe after that who knows but your talking at least 2 years

4-4-2? looked to me and most observers that he was doing the work of 2 players in there.

That's kind of the point mate

How many teams play 4-4-2 nowadays for starters

also the last player i saw do something similar as a defnesive mid was Scheiderlin for Saints in his last season at them, looked an absolute monster and duid the work of two players - soon as he moved to United and a different system where he's not given all that space to patrol he looks much inferior a player to the one they bought.

Doubt Conte will build his entire midfield around Kante and instead will be more Kante having to adjust to the way Conte wants him to fit into the side

looking forward to seeing how he does there, best and most consistant player in the league by a mile for me last year.

Leicester fan here... if you look at the reaction of any Leicester fan, they would be absolutely gutted if Steve left. He has done an amazing job and takes as much credit as Pearson and Ranieri for taking us out of league one, winning the championship, staying up and then winning the premier league.

Even in league one he was signing people for 50k or for free that ended up being brilliant for us in the league we were in, but also able to step up the next level a lot of the time. We can't show you a massive list of names you'd know, because we were working at a different level for most of his time here.

But during his spells in league one and the championship he brought in the likes of Brady and Chester at Hull as young lads for about £800k, Hull sold them for £16m. Knockaert, Mahrez, Vardy, Drinkwater, £70/80m of anyone's money. He got in young players on loan before most people had heard of them like Cleverly, Lingard, Michael Keane and Harry Kane.

These are just names you've heard of, to us there were many more who did fantastic jobs and were absolute bargains considering what they did for us and the costs.

He does more than just spot a bit of talent. What he did here with the manager was create a team that functioned well together. It wasn't about names, it was about finding someone who had the assets we needed to solve a certain problem. You scoff at signing Morgan, Huth and Simpson... but that's three people from a defence that conceeded just 36 goals last year, 19 less than you. You say "who'd be happy signing them"... would you be happy if you had signed them and won the league with them?

If you want him to just spot talent, that's fine he can do that. But one of his biggest assets is helping in creating the team. This is the guy that would have said go and get Troy Deeney... you probably had a good chuckle at that. But he'd have fit our style like a glove. Sometimes it's not about signing the best player, it's about signing the best player for your system.

Steve has done more for us than find a few players and create a team, he revolutionised our scouting processes. We were one of the first to embrace stats and analytics. If you're interested in a bit of scouting detail these articles by Rob McKenzie who worked for Steve here touch on some information http://www.skysports.com/football/news/topic/4196/science-of-scouting

Now, there are question marks of course. How he fits the team here might not be how he fits in there. We looked for certain things in players, huger, desire to improve and prove people wrong, their mentality... that was a big thing in our success. Your manager would need to be on board with that 100%. What we also did was take risks on players, people like Mahrez, Vardy, Kante all have question marks over them. Whether it was their height, how skinny they were, their personality... we took risks on people others often wouldn't.

He's had a fair few misses in the market, to be fair most have been frees or low fees. But two of our biggest signings in Okazaki and Kramaric haven't been great, although to be fair... we did win the league with Okazaki, so I think he gets a pass on that one. Kramaric was signed for Pearson and Ranieri had us play a different way, so he could have been a casualty of that.

Who knows what he'll do there, it will depend on the input he's given and his relationship with the manager. I do know he'll be bloody missed here and I feel less secure about the clubs long term health if he goes.

I'm not denying or denigrating what Leics, or the job Walsh done. But Leics can afford to take risks on players, the risks payed off brilliantly. But they were risks. I'm not too sure them same risks could be afforded here. Vardy had the season of his life last season. The Season before he got 5 goals in 34, I don't think the same level of patience would be given here, least of all from our fans. I didn't scoff at the likes of Simpson, Huth or Morgan, they were absolutely brilliant last season, it was more a scoff at our fans arrogance that now we've supposedly got some money, expectations in the transfer market have gone up, I don't think many on here would be happy if we brought Utd has beens and Stoke rejects in. I'm talking about where they were when you got them, not now. You mention Cleverly, Lingaard, Michael Keane, lower clubs are falling over themselves to get Utd players on loan, especially the ones that are/were highly regarded as them. Hardly a masterstroke. And Harry Kane was always held in high regard even when he was in Spurs reserves/youth. Every scout has success stories, Walsh' wasn't just a success story, it was a fairytale. The defence were magnificent, Kante, Vardy & Mahrez were unbelievable, ably assisted by the rest. I just think Walsh seems to be getting all the plaudits and the likes of Pearson & Ranieri aren't getting enough. Even more so on here now it looks like we're gonna get him. Im just not convinced by him. He's had his moment & will live off it, as he should, for the rest of his life. His stock will never be higher. I'd just like to see someone a bit more prolific in finding talent. Only time will tell. One thing that really matters is winning, if we win, the scout is doing a great job (eg LLose, and it's the Manager. Not a bad job this DOF/scout.

Thing is mate, all the stuff spouted like that is usually to explain why they 'need' to move to a team like Chelsea, United, City etc

Only in something like this situation is it thrown into the spotlight as being utter guff they spout, what they really mean is that they want a club with a higher profile as it means they are much more likely to get better endorsements and sponsorship deals and that they want a absolutely massive wage in comparision to what they are currently on.

Reckon for example Lukaku who has spouted none stop about playing in the CL would turn down either United or Chelsea - neither of whom are in it next year if they made an offer good enough for us to accept
I think it's the agents more than the players in Leicester's case. They advise the players on the route that will definitely get them a big payout now, with minimum risk.

Leicester are the darlings of sport right now. Players could easily get massive endorsement deals and more off the back of last season. But that doesn't get their agents the sweet transfer money. And their agents know a bad year, or a bad injury and that money is lost (to them) forever.

As for Rom, you're deffo correct - he wants to be a world star on everyone's television...and the most sure way to do that is to set up at one of the presently massive clubs like United or Chelsea, regardless of their league form.

Just think Kante is being shortsighted if it's actually purely financially motivated. Seems that success with Leicester in the CL (even making it out of groups) would see the core of the team become world stars...hell most of them have become world stars already. And that star power is where the endorsements will come from.

Can't really argue with any of that mate, thing is most footy players don't have that type of vision or intelligence to think it through, they just see the option that they constantly get told by there agents, media etc is the best route to 'the top' for them, often it ends up being far from that like, but well theres a reason a hell of a lot of players end up broke after earning millions i guess...

Fingers crossed... gives me another reason to despise Chelsea as well I suppose. :D

Mate you lot will be playing champions league football in a couple months and kante will be expecting chelsea to qualify for next years CL but i don't think they'll finish top 4, i think he'll be sorry for being so greedy.

I'd absolutely love Leicester to finish top 4 again.

I don't care about Chelsea or Leicester. I hope Everton finish top 4.
