As discussed here, we've today started trialling a new post rate system.

Previously members could 'Like' a post. Now, they can 'Like' or 'Dislike' ('KOF') a post. Those who have been posting for a while will remember it being similar to the rep system, but without the ability to comment.

The developers reckon it;

• Increases daily posts.
• Improves signal to noise ratio; less short/unnecessary posts
• Improves quality of posts (posters want to avoid negative ratings)
• Makes lurkers useful for something and gives them a means of interaction

And, it can help self moderate - there's a setting that allows 'x' amount of dislikes to place a post in a moderation queue.

We'll be tweaking the system over the next week or two to see if it can work. Be mindful that if we notice people taking the piss with it (targeting members etc) then we'll revoke access and it'll be a mark in the against category for the feature...

The point of a forum is to chat, whether it's wham or meaningful content. Like I say, it's nice to get a like if I post something witty, or someone agrees with me, but I much prefer to a 'someone quoted you' in my notifications.

exactly why i am a member here, to talk about everton. Except clearly the children run the site now so what is the actual point? the fact is, i haven't been posting because i really couldn't be arsed, well before this dislike system started, just couldn't be arsed with the same old posters. Clearly i was right judging on the replies above.

I haven't posted in about 3 weeks, bar the match threads, if you or anyone else think i am cry arsing about it then think that. Makes no difference what i say. so what is the point? I'm weary of the same old crap from the same posters over and over. Maybe some people would care if i posted, probably no-one does really, so yeah, after 3 weeks away its wall of the same posters saying 'cry arsing' well then why bother logging back on again?

This is spot on. When I logon I check, in order :-

• Quotes
• Tags
• Likes / Dislikes

But I only check the likes / dislikes when I can't remember posting in the notified thread, which, at my age, is becoming quite commonplace these days.
