As discussed here, we've today started trialling a new post rate system.

Previously members could 'Like' a post. Now, they can 'Like' or 'Dislike' ('KOF') a post. Those who have been posting for a while will remember it being similar to the rep system, but without the ability to comment.

The developers reckon it;

  • Increases daily posts.
  • Improves signal to noise ratio; less short/unnecessary posts
  • Improves quality of posts (posters want to avoid negative ratings)
  • Makes lurkers useful for something and gives them a means of interaction
And, it can help self moderate - there's a setting that allows 'x' amount of dislikes to place a post in a moderation queue.

We'll be tweaking the system over the next week or two to see if it can work. Be mindful that if we notice people taking the piss with it (targeting members etc) then we'll revoke access and it'll be a mark in the against category for the feature...

He won't even listen to you for something as simple as ignoring internet strangers. He won't listen to job advice. Anyway he interviews better than someone high up anyway so he'll be teaching you a thing or two.

I haven't posted in about 3 weeks, bar the match threads, if you or anyone else think i am cry arsing about it then think that. Makes no difference what i say. so what is the point? I'm weary of the same old crap from the same posters over and over. Maybe some people would care if i posted, probably no-one does really, so yeah, after 3 weeks away its wall of the same posters saying 'cry arsing' well then why bother logging back on again?

I hate that you plug up the depression thread, full of people who have lost everything, suicidal, and down to their bare bones, with [Poor language removed] about missing out on a job because of your own arrogance. Stop posting, it will be a benefit to that thread at the very least.

I got a koff from Ernie because I said I liked Peaky blinders ffs. I just thought what nob would do that and stuck him on ignore. No problem with Ernie any more.

Loads on here like you mate. Prevs spot on. Just focus on them.

Mate, the thing about depression is that it's different for everyone.

Some things will seem trivial to others but important to you and vice versa.

Employment issues can be all consuming, indeed one of the things behind my wife's depression (which triggered the very thread), was bullying in the workplace.

Also, you know as well as I do that it's not really in the spirit of that thread to tell someone not to use it.

Maybe some things could go in the "things that make you fume" thread yes, but if chatting about employment can stop a slide into depression, then chatting is an important thing to do.

Who are you to tell anyone what they are allowed or not allowed to be depressed about?
