As discussed here, we've today started trialling a new post rate system.

Previously members could 'Like' a post. Now, they can 'Like' or 'Dislike' ('KOF') a post. Those who have been posting for a while will remember it being similar to the rep system, but without the ability to comment.

The developers reckon it;

• Increases daily posts.
• Improves signal to noise ratio; less short/unnecessary posts
• Improves quality of posts (posters want to avoid negative ratings)
• Makes lurkers useful for something and gives them a means of interaction

And, it can help self moderate - there's a setting that allows 'x' amount of dislikes to place a post in a moderation queue.

We'll be tweaking the system over the next week or two to see if it can work. Be mindful that if we notice people taking the piss with it (targeting members etc) then we'll revoke access and it'll be a mark in the against category for the feature...

I simply asked a genuine question mate, i've seen posts with dislikes into double figures and wondered if they were being picked up by the mods (not my posts), and how'd the mods think the system was working, that's all.

I got a decent reply off Bruce but a stupid one from you so i made a stupid one in reply. I don't think it's been a failure, i agree with you, after the iniatial burst it's settled down and seems to be serving it's purpose, i simply asked if the mods agreed and if there was a limit to the amount of dislikes a post got before it got picked up, as in is the self moderating working cause posts that recieve a lot of dislikes usually get them for a genuine reason.

And yes, as people asked, there's a certain user who gets a lot of dislikes to their posts who prompted me to ask the question, obviously i can't name names cause the mods don't like that but IT'S NOT ME.




I'm honestly quite gutted you think i'm crying about getting dislikes, thought i'd made my views on that well known, i couldn't give a crap mate, in fact i laughed when certain posters went back through my post history negging every one. Unless you think i've been fuming about it for 3 weeks and i got so upset i asked a simple question?

What I'm suggesting is you'd do well to temper continual criticism with solutions/ideas - rather than just moan and cry at everything as being bad. I take your feedback now as I do davek's on Koeman - any excuse to have a pop. That's a bit sad given you've been here since 2007...

Ok fair enough, i'll try and be more constructive in future rather than moaning. I don't do it for the sake of it, i'd love to have nothing to moan about on here, but eveything i do moan about is stuff that makes the forum worse AFAIC. And i'm hardly the only one either.

Although i think my point still stands, i agree with you that the like/dislike feature is showing it's worth now.
