How dare you enquire to the circumstances to why the game was postponed Ev. We will now smash you super hard 4 months later with vengeance. You will regret the day you dared to asked why and how. Ffs.

Hahahah - spot on.

One minute the club gets pelters for being meek little Everton not standing up for themselves and rolling over - now they are getting stick for having the temerity to ask for some legitimate clarification on how and why the decision has been reached?!

Make you're minds up eh fellas?

I'm sure Carlo was delighted to have the break in all honesty, and I have no argument with the game being postponed due to this outbreak, in order to stop it spreading ( I do have an issue with the city players/staff who have knowingly breached the bubble), but
I really don't see what Everton have done or said wrong here, and the cryarsing from some gimp shitteh fans or [Phrase removed] trying to take the piss is a joke in itself tbh.

Damned if you do or dont with us Evertonians. You can spin anything negative with the right imagination.

You've no proof of anything dodgy. City were cleared of redshite smears.

What did you want? Did Everton want City to come and spread coronavirus? Do you not have any care for your own players and staff?

Ask the Premier League for your explanation!

Got a lot of time for Everton and have a few mates who are Toffees.
I'm looking forward, though, to our meeting whenever that is...it will have an extra edge for sure. I hope everyone recovers from this deadly virus soon and we are ready to play you.

I'm done on this thread, because some of you are acting like red and white [Poor language removed]. Just some of you. I wish you well.

I don't think that anybody is suggesting anything dodgy. There's a lot that doesn't seem to add up to me, but there doesn;t mean there's dodginess.

I think what Everton would have wanted, would be an explanation as to how the decision to postpone the game, extremely late into the day was made, and if it was consistent with the PL protocols. They have literally asked the PL for an explanation (as you suggested) yet here you are slating the club and it's fans for doing so. So you're not being consistent or reasonable with what you are saying.

We are entitled at the vert least, to understand how the decision was arrived at. I am not sure why the PL and City didn't involve Everton in the process, when they knew very well significant expense had come about by the time the decision had been made and not communicated until late on.

I like City. I wrote extensively on here defending you from ridiculous witch hunts (check my posting history) but your attitude is a bit off here mate,

What was wrong with Everton's statement?
It was in poor taste lad. We pulled the groundsmen off the pitch, sent everyone home after organising the security, food, reception, all staff. Told the players and manager to scrap mid preparation. And had the AUDACITY to enquire to the circumstances of such a late postponement. I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS ACT OF SELFISHNESS. I HATE UUUUUSSSS.

I don't think that there is a rat to smell here.

The right thing was done. It would be totally wrong for City to go to Merseyside even with asymptomatic players and spread coronavirus to Everton. It would potentially start off another increase in infections in an area which has seen the benefits of mass testing.

I was looking forward to the game, hoping to make ground on Everton and your thoroughly horrible neighbours. I just hope our people and others are not affected more by this killer virus. Those two Newcastle players are still suffering from long Covid. That is a concern.

Hopefully we can play this fixture soon. It's one of my favourites and it will be a sad day when you leave Goodison with the special atmosphere it can habr, particularly with two clubs who have a mostly healthy rivalry (I'm sure coming to Manchester as an away fan can be as, err, challenging as going to Merseyside is - that's what my Evertonian mate tells me when I recount some frankly dangerous days out).

Anyway Everton will probably be stronger with Richarlison who was kicked out of your cup tie with United (a well worn tactic employee by those two vile clubs),and Digne.

The real skullduggery in Football comes from those two clubs, their Arsenal and Tottenham buddies. Not from a club that is doing the right thing in a pandemic.

All very fair. However it should have been communicated more openly with Everton of the thinking behind the decision. To a degree that may be on the PL and City may say the PL has the responsibility to do this.

Everton are doing nothing wrong in asking for some clarity as to why, just hours before kick off, City decided not to turn up, and they/the PL didn't let the club know sooner. I'm sure for those working at Goodison on the day, they'd have appreciated the notice.

Screw City.

The general word on social media seems to be linking us to the kopites.

An image we have tried years to portray, a club of dignity and class, ruined for the sake of some cheap words to placify our own fanbase.

A new low for this club.

And screw everybody else! Who cares?

"Evertonians are born, not manufactured. We do not choose, We are chosen. Those who understand need no explanation, those who don't understand, don't matter."

Man City didnt postpone the game. The PL did, after taking medical advice due to the unfortunate timings of tests/Christmas. Essentially, once 2 or 3 players had returned positive tests earlier, they hadnt a clue what the results of the next batch would show. Nor if it was the new super duper virus.

They, the PL, would have been asking both clubs to play Russian Roulette with the absence of data.
Really?
I didn’t think for one minute that city postponed the game!!!
There’s a difference between city wanting the game postponed and actually postponing it.
Look I agree that the match should not go ahead because of life threatening issues.
But city i would not trust with a long barge poll
There is a something that is not quite right over this
Short notice of postponement is poor form and city and the premier league not involving everton in the discussions about the game is unprofessional to say the least.
Absolutely shocking and the lack of respect from both parties not to involve the club that is actually holding the event
IMO City did not want to play the game but due to the circumstances they played the COVID card
