City might end up wishing they played this, if we do have a 2 week brake I can see a real fixture pile up for them, which they wont like, 4 games in 9 days type situations

Really?
I didn’t think for one minute that city postponed the game!!!
There’s a difference between city wanting the game postponed and actually postponing it.
Look I agree that the match should not go ahead because of life threatening issues.
But city i would not trust with a long barge poll
There is a something that is not quite right over this
Short notice of postponement is poor form and city and the premier league not involving everton in the discussions about the game is unprofessional to say the least.
Absolutely shocking and the lack of respect from both parties not to involve the club that is actually holding the event
IMO City did not want to play the game but due to the circumstances they played the COVID card

This.
Its dropped now. Nothing we can do about it and neither will we ever prob find out the time frames of when the PL and city came to the decision. But you dont have to be sherlock holmes to work out the last people to be involved in this three way discussion were the club hosting the game.
The more i think about it the more i like the club statement. It wasnt rude. It wasnt offensive. It was basically a cryptic thanks for nothing.

I honestly believe the game was called off for safety reasons mate. City will be well aware of the problems they will face with future fixture congestions. The outbreak may be so bad that the New Years day fixture may also need cancelling, and will be exacerbated if they win their league cup semi final and have a decent run in the FA cup, neither of which is improbable. A couple of seasons ago I think Arsenal had to play 6 games in something like 11 days and City's pile up could be even worse.

Add this to the fact that we were without 5 key players amongst others, and we needed to rest at least 3 or 4 more. They could have been without 10 or 11 players and still put out a comfortably stronger team than us. I do believe that the cancellation will work to our favour.

Still doesn't explain why neither they nor the PL have been more forthcoming on the detail front. The fact that they still haven't disclosed the figures just proves to me that the club were stonewalled when they asked for the information initially, and why they had to go public with their statement. And now we're getting pilloried for it in some sectors.

All the media comments over the Fulham game tonight, and to a lesser degree the Burnley Sheffield game last night, just shows why the Premier League need to be more transparent with these covid figures. I just don't see why they are being kept under wraps.

Is it perhaps because Everton are upsetting the preferred motus operandi?

Cos they play around 10 games a season more, teams like Man City and Spurs will be at a big disadvantage with fixture congestion later in the season.
I know.

If you read through the last few pages of this thread you'll see I supported City specifically for that reason.

Manchester City FC can confirm that first team training will resume at City Football Academy this afternoon

The full Covid-19 bubble underwent testing yesterday, and results have so far revealed no new positive cases.

Safety remains our number one priority, and the Club will continue to proceed with great caution.

The first team training buildings have undergone a deep clean over the past 48 hours, and the majority of these facilities will remain closed, with only essential operations around training resuming.

The bubble will undergo further testing in the coming days, the results of which will inform and dictate the next steps.

Everyone at Manchester City continues to wish speedy recoveries to all of our colleagues who remain in self isolation following their positive tests.

City would have been able to put out a side that could have still wiped the floor with us.

Make no mistake.

Best for all that the game was canned.
