Ancelotti’s ‘statement’ was just his opinion on how he was made aware of the situation and how it affected his players and preparations. It was probably a lot easier for him.

The clubs statement was regarding the off field preparations i.e. Having to inform the 2000 fans and relevant services that the game was off with no awareness or communication given. It was left until very, very short notice.
 

I'm baffled as to why there is uproar over the statement put out by us, it's hit RS levels of hysteria.

Everton Football Club regret the postponement of tonight’s match against Manchester City - not only for the 2,000 fans who would have been attending, but for supporters on Merseyside and across the world.

Our players were prepared for the game, as were both the team staff and everyone at Goodison. Matchday is the most important date in our calendar. And this was a big one.

Whilst Everton will always have public safety uppermost, we will be requesting full disclosure of all the information that Manchester City provided to the Premier League so the Club can be clear on why this decision was taken.

Just watched Moyes take on the events of the other night.
I suppose it says it all when after pointing out that City still had sixteen players from the squad available, the League fell back onto the mantra that each match can be looked at in isolation.

Its a very simple question Everton asked so I don't see the issue with it Lou. The PL should have responded with immediate affect and in not doing so just left them wide open for criticism.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur were both left frustrated after their games against Manchester City and Fulham, respectively, were called off because a number of their opponents’ players went down with Covid-19 or symptoms of the virus.

The league’s action came as the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta called for clearer rules about how matches are postponed because of Covid cases. Arteta said a new protocol should include a threshold for the number of fit players available and a cut-off point for the match to be called off.

The letter to the 20 clubs, from the Premier League’s chief executive Richard Masters, was in response to Everton and Spurs expressing anger at the lack of transparency surrounding their decision on their game. It urged the clubs to ensure the protocols around contact, cleaning, social distancing and maintaining their bubble are closely followed, and said decisions around postponements follow the rules laid down in appendix 17 of the Premier League’s rulebook, which deals Covid.

The letter added the decisions by the Premier League board to postpone the games were made late in the day because information on test results and players developing symptoms had only become available at that time.

Although the league’s rules say matches should be played if there are 14 players available to a club, the board can “permit the rearrangement or postponement of a league match in exceptional circumstances, which will be judged on a case-by-case basis”.

The letter explains that the board had received medical advice that there would have been a risk of Manchester City and Fulham players passing on the virus to their opponents if the matches had gone ahead.

Not that its really a proper explanation, more of a quote of their own rules, which infact are not the Rules as that quote highlighted proves they can just have rules that dont matter and can be changed any time

As said, the issue here is with the PL continuing to put on loads of games - spaced out by 2/3 days in some cases - over a 2 week period at the height of the Covid19 crisis. They caused the situation whereby testing didn't keep up with player availability.

Ancelotti knows the score and I'm sure he'd have been sympathetic to Guardiola's predicament.
 
Moyes: Have rules changed on postponing games due to Covid?

So the premier league went against it's on stipulation;

"The Premier League Board ultimately decides whether matches can or cannot be postponed and while there are not hard and fast rules - each game is judged on a case-by-case basis - the 2020/21 Premier League handbook states "permission will not be granted to postpone a league match where the applicant club has 14 or more players listed on its squad list available."

City only have 5 players out now. How many were out for Monday's game?
