I’m with Tubey.

We have to stop simply accepting things. Let’s cryarse our way to the points the way other teams would.
I've no prob at all with that mate - just don't think this is the right sitiation to use that argument. This is about people's health - life and death. It's a no-brainer decision. We could criticise the Boxing Day decision, and rightly so. Personally I was amazed that went ahead even with 2 positive confirmed first teamers. That's not a guide for today's decision though, thankfully.

We should demand answers at least regarding why we weren't involved in discussions. We were hosting the match, how can they not at least keep us informed?

I think we should be getting the points unless City cannot field the 13 or 14 players needed to fulfil the fixture. But thats not going to happen so I dont know what we can do.

If we ever get a positive test (and I really hope not) then we should demand its called off too.

The thing is that City missing eight players is less harmful to them than Everton missing just two, due to squad depth.

So if we're talking about "Impact", that's a lousy threshold to have. Calvert-Lewin being injured alone could warrant a postponement request in that instance.

Ask yourself why Villa were not awarded the points when Newcastle had to postpone due to Covid.

Newcastle had a ton of players out as far as I know. Is there a threshold or number of cases that forces a game to be called off, or do they just make it up case by case?

If its 4 cases then City can field a team. I get that its not a sensible thing to do but they played on boxing day with confirmed covid cases. Theres no consistency in the approach. If its deemed too big a risk today then surely it was a big risk 2 days ago as well?

Aston Villa - Newcastle was due to be played 4th December.

The game was confirmed as being postponed on 1st December.

Aston Villa said

We would like to thank both the Premier League Board and Newcastle United for their comprehensive and transparent communication during the process which resulted in this decision being reached.

The PL statement said

Newcastle lodged a request with the Premier League to rearrange the game following a significant increase in COVID-19 cases at the club. This resulted in Public Health England (PHE) advising that their training facilities be closed down. The Premier League Board agreed, as a consequence, the club are unable to train and adequately and safely prepare for their match on Friday.

The decision has been taken in consultation with Newcastle United and Aston Villa and following extensive consultation with PHE and Premier League medical advisors, with the health of players and staff the priority.

Yet Everton don't get told anything until after the PL allow Man City to postpone the match.

I think I’m misunderstood here.

I agree it should not go ahead. I think City should’ve forfeited.

Two wrongs don't make a right though

If you have 14 players (including under 21s) you can play the game. Anything less you can't play and forefit the match.

I can't find anything about a threshold that says after 'x' positive cases you can request a postponement, after 'y' positive cases a postponement automatically happen.
