What ? Who ?

I swear people say this about every generation of youngsters at clubs all round the country, how many actually make it though ? So far the only two i've seen who look like they could be challenging for the first team are Duffy and Barkley. Baxter hasn't impressed me and i haven't seen enough of anybody else to really be wowed by them.

Oh and Moyes doesn't give youth a chance, as evidenced by his refusal to give Barkley decent runs in games when we were winning 3 or 4 nil at home in the last two months of the season. Chelsea when we were 2-0 up and strolling would be another example.

Rodwell, Anichebe and Coleman currently in the first team. Barkley, Vellios, Gueye, McAleney and Duffy coming through. We then have the likes of Dier, Garbutt, Lundstram, Hope and Green. The academy are Premier League champions. The reserves beat both United and Arsenal away comfortably. And the U18 did the double over United, including a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

Moyes is overly-cautious but he wouldn't put so much in to the youth and reserves if he didn't believe in it. The RS scrapped their youth academy under Benitez, so it wouldn't be unprecedented for him to focus on the first team. I think Stubbs has said that Barkley was given a year with the reserves to catch up on the time lost due to his injury, but that he would be a first team player next year.

Rodwell has done nothing more than show he is an average PL player. Anichebe ? HAHA !

Gueye isn't really 'our' youth and most people i've spoken to don't rate him (i think he's decent but too slow for this league). Vellios we haven't seen enough of, but he looked lost when he started games. McAleney nearly left the club, or did i can't remember. Dier, Garbutt, Lundstram, Hope, Green. All meaningless without proven PL experience. There are at least half a dozen 'good' young players at every PL club right now, and the vast majority of them won't make the step up.

As i said, the only ones i currently rate are Barkley and Duffy, and Rodwell isn't exactly a 'young player' in terms of experience. Yes he's only 20 but he's also been playing first team footie for years.

I'm speaking from Moyes' perspective and he will be excited by the potential of the players in and around the squad.

Official news? What do you think this is? The BBC? You're in the wrong place; here we deal in rumour, speculation, conjecture and popcorn (and if you're really lucky, pictures of animals bumming).

Sadly I've been here too long to know this is truth

May see a Spurs cleanout now, NZ skipper Ryan Nelson has shifted over to QPR to link up with Hughes once again. Probably won't be the first, hopefully that includes Pienaar.

I beg your pardon? I try to deal with hard facts, popcorn and bumming!

So to sum up, no, moyes ain't going to spurs yet (thankfully in my opinion), they seem to want AVB.
