nonesense utter utter nonesense. any player can make a mistake whatever age and they do regularly (distin semi cough cough)

Any player can make a mistake yes, but surely the more situations you've been in previously, the more knowledge you have about what's the best thing to do? I'd be confident that a player at the age of 28 would make fewer mistakes than the same player at 18.

I'm not saying that this automatically means older players make fewer mistakes than younger players, some young players are just better in every regard. I'm talking about experienced vs inexperienced in general.

So you're saying that younger inexperienced players aren't more likely to make big mistakes than older more experienced ones ? Because i'm pretty sure that statement from Brownz is perfectly fair and legitimate. He's not saying older players don't make mistakes.

For me the reason experienced players are picked is they know their role in the team better, they are likely to handle pressure better and they will know how to handle each situation that will arsie in game.

Mistakes are made constantly by every player. Look at Joe Hart last night. He's arguably the worlds best cat.

The difference being that when Barkley makes a mistake he doesn't play again all season but when Howard or Cahill makes a msitake they get plenty of chances to redeem themselves.

Who should Barkley be playing instead of mate?
Who should Duffy?
What makes you think Jose Baxter is anywhere near a Premiership footballer?

No, but I think Jagielka was bought back too quickly from injury when we could have used Duffy instead.

I didn't think Duffy did anything wrong when he got his run in the side and he should have been left to play alongside Heitinga until his form dropped IMO.

If only we were winning games 4-0 at home at the end of last season, we could of bought a few youngsters on as subs then. Would of been the best chance we had to play them in little pressure situations [/sarcasm off]

And as for Moyes, its kinda simple for me :

On our budget we need to keep him as manager to deal with transfers.

But while he might possibly be the best man for the job on that front, there are numerous managers out there who would get more out of the squad he assembled than Moyes does, ala this :

Anyway like I said earlier what I want from a new manager is a) have us turn up in Derbies, b ) have us turn up in cups (our record in cups under Moyes is a one of underacheivment) c) play decent, watchable, attacking, entertaining football d) turn up before christmas, e) not fall out with and banish our best players and f) play the kids if they're good enough. I don't need champions league football to make me happier then I am with Moyes.

Two very differing sides to being a manager. Moyes excels at one but isn't too great at the other. Trouble is if he did leave is that if we replace him with a polar opposite manager they would probably struggle on our budget. But you never know until they actually try.

Ask any old pro they'll all tell you older players give the manager down the banks if dropped or subbed, the kids are more accomodating - except really talented lads like Rooney (and possibly Royston?)
