Pre-Season

"Silly season."

The term implies frivolous nonsense which is easily discarded.

Wretched nightmare time might be more appropriate.

Fevered paranoia season.

A summer of agonizing doubt and hatred.

Needs a new name for sure.

Regardless being shouted at for being a BNP loving maniac in the Euro thread seems far more preferable to reading the "horrible rumour of the day" around here. So far we've apparently lost Fellaini, Baines and Moyes ... it's June 11 FFS.

I think the best thing about supporting a team with money might not be the Champions League or contending for trophies ... it might be enjoying the summer without an axe dangling over your neck.

"Getting there or there abouts?" Is that our motto now?

Are people afraid to sound like Kopites by expecting a club like Everton to win trophies or has this anemic "it's the taking part that counts" pro-Moyes culture blinded them?

Yeah we've got no money, yeah we can't get into the Champions League or win a title without a few hundred million but we've still got a good squad that's won [Poor language removed] all in 10 years because the bottler up top can't motivate his lads when it really matters...

Chelsea deservedly beat us in 2009, but that f*cking dogged Liverpool team were there for the taking, just like Shrewsbury, Reading, Birmingham, Brentford, Fiorentina, Standard Liege, Sporting f*cking Lisbon, Oldham were...

Middlesborough(x2), Southampton, Blackburn, Bolton, Millwall, West Ham, Birmingham, Wigan, Cardiff (x2) and Portsmouth (x2) have all been in European, League and F.A Cup finals in the 10 years that Moyes has been here; And i'm sure you'll all agree...Who the [Poor language removed] are they??.

Just because Alan Hansen & co on Match of the Day think "little old plucky Everton" getting 7th and "getting to an F.A Cup Semi-Final" is a magnificent achievement doesn't mean we should; 65k a week the man at the top gets and no wonder he hasn't left...when people like yourself think a club with a glorious 135 year history have no divine right in making their own history and challenging for a bit of f*cking silverware...

Truly superb post.

I agree with goat here, reason being because I can't help think that with someone else, we'd slide right back to final day relegation scares. I want to win the league as much as the next blue, and while I don't think it's 'kopite' to feel a right to win, I think we also need a dose of realism sometimes.
