So two more positives in the second round of testing, both were negative in the first round.

So if these two would have played a game in between tests they would have spread the virus?
Am I missing something here. It just seems so risky.

the testing is a sham. The tests aren’t even accurate and the results aren’t even relevant. The headlines today are a disgrace ‘only 8 positive tests’ Like it’s a good thing. That’s 8 people who will need to completely quarantine for 2 weeks and were put in a position of potentially spreading it to others. There’s no number of positive tests that could be reported that would be high enough to stop them going ahead with it. If they were bothered about player health and welfare or fan enjoyment they wouldn’t even be considering this. As it’s all about money though there’s no set of circumstances now bad enough that they won’t just plough on with it.

If there is more than a handful of positive tests in the next round and that trend grows, or if the virus is seen to be spreading amongst a squad, I think the players will take that power away from the clubs and stop it themselves. If it starts to spread through a squad, the players will be backed by all clubs bar Liverpool.

But the players can't wait to get going @Joeharper07

Reservations from a few that’s understandable from what I read and hear the majority glad to be back at work and happy with the preparations , if players do not want to play with concerns then leave them out

So your saying never bring it back until it’s eradicated when ever that may be , three months ,six months , twelve months , two years

Seriously are you stupid? Every other country that's returning have got a miniscule amount of deaths compared to us. What's so hard for you to comprehend?

When la liga returned to training it was comparable with the position we are in now not “ minuscule “ I get you dont want it started that’s fine we’re not starting contact yet that’s not decided yet and as a country we are on a decline like most other countries it’s happening get over it .

I don’t disagree with that if the trend grows there will be no alternative but to cancel , but i don’t think that’s going to happen and only time will tell but the trend up to know has been downward , there were six positive test last week that didn’t spread through the clubs as it went down to two

No, go a few pages back and you'll see I don't believe that testing is the problem.

In fact that's literally not what I've said, I don't know how you've got to that. The players and clubs will stop if testing shows that the number of positive cases is growing (which would be outside of the trend nationally). And if it took hold in a squad, it would demonstrate it wasn't safe. I don't think it will come to that, but if it does it absolutely has to stop.
That comment you quoted was not aimed at you , I’m being accused of being a Kopite because I want it started as I think it will have huge financial implications on the leagues ( all teams ) yet not many seem to want to pinpoint when they are happy to see it return . Is it when it’s zero deaths ? Because that probably won’t happen going forward so football has made a decision and because I’m happy with it others apparently aren’t , don’t see too many bombarding the club over it

I don't think it's going to happen either but time will tell.

I don't think this much effort should be going into finishing a season that's lost its so called integrity mind. And returning in August for a new season would have been my choice. But I can understand the Premier league pushing to start when leagues around Europe are doing the same, though granted others aren't.

Then again we're the worst country in Europe, so I can understand why many don't share that view.

Yep, my mistake!

Not when Liberpewl are involved.

The threshold to ‘reopen‘ society isn’t zero deaths; it’s about the capacity of hospitals to cope sufficiently with the number of cases - which is a big rationale for using the ‘R’ as a measure.

Football is returning prior to the reopening of wider society. This is why it feels odd/weird/wrong (delete as appropriate). The gamble lies with the fact that if the ‘R’ rate spikes then football looks callous. The industry is treading a fine line - reputational capital is on the line

A reasoned and measured post , you may find though that some restrictions are set to be lifted on June 1st as indicated a few weeks ago . I agree it’s treading a fine line but as rich as it is once the supply of money dries up there in the crap quite quickly and that’s why they have opted to go ahead as early as possible , I’ve not seen too much criticism of the clubs decision either here or on social media yes criticism of the RS but strangely nothing directed at the club .

I agree the trend is going down, but we havent started contact training yet. These people are supposed to be in almost bubble like conditions. When they start mixing, surely it's going to accelerate the spread. Bearing in kind the people tested positive had no symptoms, felt fine, and the likelihood is that they've carried for virus for at least for a few days before testing positive. That's now putting families at risk, and the wider squads when contact training comes in.

I do hear your arguments, I really do. However, how can we exempt these people from social distancing for a game of football whilst sweating and grappling with each other but I cant pick up a bag of spuds from Aldi unless I stay 2 meters away from them?

The next arguement is financially you want them to start back to ensure their future security? Why just football, what about landlords and pub owners, airlines, holiday companys and many many industries across the UK that still have to suffer? You cannot use the financial card because the government are saying it's for the UK morale. Not money, or we would be opening up for business elsewhere.

Then I come to the morale. You know what, football is a popular sport. But actually, no everybody enjoys football. People like socialising, eating out, racing cars at track days ( which there is no talk of allowing back yet despite you being in your own car), formula 1 (again easier to distance competing drivers and teams), cricket etc. All not surging forward and having government back to return for the morale of the UK.

Let's just face it, it's simply a financial decision which is an absolute slap in the face to many, many other sectors who are so desperate to get back to running their businesses to, but nobody is interested in them.

To me, no arguement stacks up to bring any form of professional sport back while the regular fan, or regular worker cannot get back to earning their living either.
