It isn't that many. The deaths over the last three days have been 77, 55 and 286. There is a lag though. The most important thing though is that deaths per day are now below the seasonal average less people are dying at the moment then usually die at this time of year.
still far to many for my liking. Especially since there is likely to be a spike soon with all the public gatherings recently.

I would normally say I cant believe the govt is allowing this, but it is Boris, he apparently doesn't care about killing thousands of people

liverpool fans who last won the league 30 years ago will not go out and celebrate

Public gatherings especially at this time of year aren't that dangerous though, especially if social distancing is followed. Covid-19 is transmitted far more easily in confined spaces.

I certainly wouldn't be joining any public gatherings. I suppose the way the UK (and others) have bungled the response, it is inevitible that people would eventually start trying to justify returning to normal as there is now only a 20% chance of catching it instead of 50% (figures made up for illustrative purposes).

Isn't this one of the problems? What is legally stopping them, as long as they adhere to social distancing arriving in no more than "groups of six"... obviously there wont be a ticketed or promoted event, but the gov guidelines are completely contradictory to restricting a large amount of people in one desired place, whether that be to celebrate promotion to the championship, the other thing or going to the beach.....

Well you would hope common sense and decency would stop people, knowing that mass gatherings will cause untold amounts if deaths down the line.

I mean we know all of this. John Ashton has made this very clear re the Atletico game fiasco. If there are doubts about fans returning up, football shouldn't be re starting.

Well nearly 300 is a lot actually, and the deaths remain substantially above the seasonal average.

It's a nap that hundreds of RS customers will be marauding around Goodison on the 21st , not much chance of them complying with social distancing guidelines !
You couldn't swing a cat in most of the streets by the ground .

I would imagine the sad gits will also be congregating by the Holy Trinity or Dixie's statue for the maximum photo ops by the ' Manchester' Echo !

I'm not sure debates around 'seasonal average' death rate is really relevant. I'm sure road traffic accidents, for instance, are well down. The pandemic-related deaths are the key barometer that we all have to measure and keep an eye on. It appears the peak is well past in terms of where we were a month or so ago - it was getting on for around 1000 deaths a day.
