Project restart discussion.

There is no basis for it, as every league that went for null and void had no legal action and no difficulties relating to legalism in restarting.

It literally had no impacton any league where cancellation was taken. A complete red flag. Again without trying to be wise after the event, I did point this out at the time as well.

Only one league went null and void to the best of my knowledge, the rest where settled with promotion relegation

The truth is no one knows, restart was average at best, many hailed it as a success. You cannot say with certainty, your method would have been better, there in all likelihood would have been at minimum legal attempts from Leeds, WBA, probably Liverpool and most teams not impact by threat of relegation when TV rights were not paid.

That discussion needs to be parked the question is what happens with future hiatus due to this poxy covid and hellish government

@LouReedwalkonthewildside

Done my maccavennie sports analysis and can confirm

Pen against Chelsea was given by ref, then checked by VAR. Decision stood.

Pen against Sheffield Utd was not given by ref, checked by VAR, decision reversed and pen given

Pen against Man City was not given by ref, checked by VAR, decision reversed and pen given

Pen against Brighton was not given by ref, checked by VAR, decision reversed and pen given

Couldn't find the 5th one

So out of the 4 I found, only 1 was given and VAR had to intervene to give the other 3

In the 1 - 1 game with Brighton macca I'm sure Brighton had 2 pens in the game, one scored, one missed.

Looking at the current figures, and how long this vaccine will take, I'm starting to think we the fans wont be back at the start of next season, forget this one, zero chance of that in any decent numbers.
What bugs me about these players is they are in the public eye, just as much as Dominic Cummings. The way they are acting, well a small number, need severe punishment

I think that's optimistic mate, certainly in anything more than a token 20 or 30% format. It's grim and Frustrating.

1- It could have very easily happened. Lots of leagues in lots of countries stopped. Even top leagues in this country (Scotland) stopped. They made a choice and a gamble. If this season is affected, it will have turned out to be a terribl, terrible mistake that was entirely avoidable. Of course they didn't, but they could have done.

2- I've not seen the Olympics. Obviously the Olympics is not working around national sporting windows in the same way. UEFA will really not want to wait further to complete a tournament. Having a Euro's months before a world cup would be farcical (and actually greatly reduce interest) and cancelling costs them money. All options are open, but if I'm UEFA, I want a pretty big payday to move the tournament again.

3- I believe a months delay may mean they can just about fiddle things around, not move too much and every could be happy. Anymore than 1 month and it is going to get very difficult. I believe this is why the league is desperate not to stop.

Ultimately the ineptitude, stupidity, short sightedness and cowardice of the governing bodies, in needlessly playing a summer circus after a season had effectively ended has caused a potentially very challenging situation. The governance of the game is appalling. Yesterdays behaviour from the PL, cancelling games without even consulting with ourselves underlines this.
And of course the mid (europe) season world cup is in the horizon to complicate matters

Hi Catcher, apologies for missing your reply here. I completely agree with all of the sentiment here, but I am aghast that someone as smart as your goodself could not see the inevitablity of the last paragraph here. It was always going to be the case that the "ineptitude, stupidity, short sightedness and cowardice of the governing bodies" dictated things. We are still seeing that now, with the PL "show must go-on" madness, which in turn we will hear from UEFA about CL, Europa league and international matches, despite them all being a recipe for disaster.

Until the decisions are taken out of the hands of football bodies by governments, the car-crash will stay on the road
