Prostate check

….so yesterday I had a Colonoscopy (camera up the bum). The procedure was totally painless and zero issues afterwards. The preparation isn’t the best, in my case 30 hours fasting but the worst is the 1L drinks you have to take twice to ‘clear your drains’.

As you can imagine, you get referred for a reason and it’s usually because tests point to a major potential problem. NHS guarantee to conduct the test within 2 weeks of referral but that period is a major concern because you can’t help thinking the worst. I’m laid back about procedures but these last two weeks have been a big worry thinking of the potential outcome.

A huge relief when the Consultant said ‘it’s all lovely and clear, I wish all colons were as good as this’ ;)

So, procedure is nothing to fear and you really do have to get these things checked if you have a prolonged period of sloppy poops or have any sign of blood in your stools.

Eye operation next Wednesday, needles in the eyeball etc holds zero fear for me as I’m chilled about such things. Getting a cataract removed and a corrective lens put in the iris should mean eyesight like Superman.

I just had a colonoscopy. Apparently the recommendation is to start at 45 years. They knock you out as well here. Is great. I love general anasthetics. The feeling for the few seconds is like opium. Could do this everyday lol.
The prostate is also checked by a urine exam. Feel our generation will no longer get the fingers up the hoop after a while. unfortunately, lol.

How many poos did you do after the drink? I get them every 3 years and I think about 32 is my record

Update , I had mine checked recently (hence the thread), I had to last week for blood tests and this morning I’ve had a phone call from the GP requesting me to go in on Wednesday morning…. At least it wasn’t as soon as possible I suppose 😂…. Anyway, fingers crossed it’s good news
You should have scheduled it for today. The sooner you know, the better, right mate?

Besides, it's your bday, right?

Nothing wrong with a little bit of arse play on your special day... 😜

On a serious note, I'm getting close to the age now where I need to start getting regular checkups. I've never had one before! 😳

Does it help at all if the GP performing the examination is a fit bird?

You can`t see the GP mate, as you`re lying on your side and can`t see them.

I genuinely didn`t even know they`d done anything, until the GP said all done !

Thanks for that, mate. That's a relief to know.

My luck though, I'll probably get the one weirdo GP who likes to make you look at him while making direct eye contact and having an awkward conversation at the same time he's performing it. 🙄

I almost bottled out of going, as I`d built it up to be this horrendous violation.

I walked out feeling pretty stupid tbh.

Yay !!!! Another lighthearted and fun thread on this here fine forum.
Long story short, been suffering for a few months with constant abdominal pains and a few other symptoms so finally bit the bullet today and got it checked, my mates findings were inconclusive so I think I’ll go to the doctor instead….. only kidding…. Seriously, went to the doc and luckily it was a slim fingered lady GP rather than a Prince Charles handed bloke.
Went through the indignity and embarrassment of the arl bum hole break in first and then had a few other checks… doc wasn’t happy so sent me straight to the hospital who were great. Had a few more tests and examinations (not another one of them thankfully) but I was at the docs, sent to hospital, got seen to and was home within 6 hours. Excellent service. More blood tests and stuff next week and getting tested for celiac disease too which ain’t great but hey ho, I’d rather change my diet than be in constant discomfort and pain.

Anyhow ,,, what I’m saying is don’t be embarrassed to get checked guys, it’s intrusive yes, but the benefits long term far outweigh that 1 minute of indignity. Better catching things early than putting it off (gives ironic thumbs up)

I literally had someone with massive bellend fingers mate!
