It's a solid start, not a false dawn.

There is no dawn until he can show over a sustained period, that the team and squad can progress in all aspects.

He is streetwise and competent. How far it takes him here is anyone's guess. Needs to be given legroom for a couple of players next week.

One thing that does appear more apparent early on is the improvement in fitness.

He does appear to be a man with a plan. Mr. Galactico Ancelotti appeared rather resigned and bereft in that respect, unless nothing other than stoic resistance was your thing.

Whether Benitez' plans and ideas are the right ones, and whether he can even execute them, will take months if not longer to reveal.

I can't stand the guy and didn't want him here. I can't change that, it was what it was.

But I have been impressed by how we have played so far and it's much better than it was under Carlo.

I'm still not used to seeing him as our manager but that may change in time, especially if we keep playing this way. A win against Liverpool with him celebrating will go a long way with that.

He is hamstrung currently due to the fact that half of the squad need punting and a rebuild job is required.
So if stuck with the majority of the current squad then I don’t think he can fairly be judged until he has bought in his own players.
That said, at least the players now look like they are trying and not frightened of receiving the ball.

I was like that. And it was always going to be swayed by what i saw. Course its early and i dont think its the best squad. Dont think we have clean sheet in us due to personel rather than the manager.
But.
They look more interested and focused. He is def giving them more clear instructions to what he wants and what they had.

Three games unbeaten without a certain uber slow useless Ice berg clogging up every aspect of our football game on and off the ball.

Benitez understands pace power and hard work are the basis of any decent football team. Shame no manager since Moyes recognised this and continued to play a succession of useless slow midfielders and forwards. How refreshing to see Richalrison DCL Gray and Townsend actually giving us a front four with pace right across it, it’s ridiculous we’ve not had this in the team since Mirallas Barkley Deulofeu Lukaku.

The gaffer has spent nothing and improved our team dramatically. His signings have been inspired. I wasn’t a fan of the guy but I’m warming to him. I like the rapport he’s got with the fans, too. He made a point of coming over to us away fans at the end. He gets us Scousers.

The Leeds game at the weekend wasn’t even close (we had TWICE as many attempts on target) and it’s such a difficult place to get a result. Their fans really get behind their players.

Onwards and upwards.

Dunno what it is about your posting history but there's a bitter aroma of RS about it. You hide it well tbf
