This thread has descended into the ridiculous.
Some posters are genuinely excited by his appointment. That's fine.
Some posters are genuinely unhappy by his appointment. That's also fine.
There are also more than a few posters (from both sides of the debate) who are just out and out WUM's. Presumably they find it funny to wind up fellow blues.
Exaggerated praise of the manager and exaggerated negativity about the manager are equally divisive and most of all incredibly boring.

Yeah but think how boring it would be if Rafael wasnt such a good manager, better to have a boring thread for a winning manager who belives in us then a boring thread for a dud... like last season

Let's see where we finish before calling one a success and one a dud.
It's 3 games in . We won our first 7 last season.

As much as I loved Carlo, we would have had Bernard Davies Siggurdson Gomes all in the same team and would have been dismantled by Huddersfield if we’d gone down to ten men.
I mean ancelotti taken across the season was at best poor last year , I won’t be defending him , but firstly we just don’t know that do we and secondly when was the last time we got knocked out at that stage of the league cup ?

In fairness Carlo took us serenely through the cups until we met City and United. Obviously we don’t know what would have happened but given how we played towards the end under Carlo I’m not sure we would have gone for a win in a game when we were down to ten men (which was odd because we’d done it away at Watford thanks to Kean Richalrison and Walcott on the break but he seemed to move completely away from that approach by the end)

….steady, if I remember rightly you’re also a Michael Keane groupie. I also find it a bit creepy to call Benitez by his first name when even Kendall and Catterick don’t get that. It’s just not Everton to me.

Each to their own I suppose, I probably need to move with the times and a shifting supporter base.

It was definitely a tough watch for a lot of the season , I just struggle with some of the definitives like “ we’d definitely have gone out “ because I’m not convinced we would , although it’s entirely possible . I don’t think an Everton time has gone out in that round for about 20 years which is mad .

Nobody was genuinely excited by the appointment though let’s be honest. All other points I’d agree with.

100%. We have won two and drawn one. Posiitve! We have wingers now and a bit of pace. Positive! We still have a largely static and unimaginative midfield. Negative! We are playing a brand of fast paced counter-attacking football where possessions stats are the be all and end all. Positive (for me anyway)! We have only played sides we should truly be confident of beating, the one side anywhere near our standard snatched a draw from us. Negative! If we were to carry on with this line of thinking we could see we have had a decent start, and that the football has been at times grim, at times very exciting. So all in all, its OK. nobody should really be suggesting anything more at the moment, nor showld we until at least mid-point in the season. Lest give the manager and the players that long at least before we decide if they are trash or the second coming?
Fair comment but not sure any team can be truly confident of beating Leeds at their place

I dont see Keane getting too many more chances. He's been more than fair with him already.

But yes, on your main point: we've somehow - and despite the worst intentions of some of our fans - been able to land a manager who knows wtf he is doing. He is a machine who has no regard for any legacy he might have and completely unencumbered by past associations. They may as well not have happened.

If this board want the good start to continue then they have to move mountains in the next week to give Benitez at least two more first team players or we'll just be overwhelmed by fixtures.

That's the reason why Brands is so bad for Everton...he's ok spending cash but selling players for cash is not something he can do. If I were Benitez in a few months time with a bit more authority in the job I'd be pushing him right out the door, because he'll get him sacked if he doesn't.
I suspect trouble is already brewing. The last sentence (and the smirkey smile) in his post match interview said it all...

Benitez is notoriously perfectionist and difficult on footballing matters. He doesnt suffer fools lightly. It will he him or Brands.

But we called Carlo by his first name?
