But we called Carlo by his first name?

…speak for yourself, I certainly didn’t but I understand posters finding it easier to type ‘Carlo’ than Ancelotti. It’s a little different here, especially if you use these terms in conversation with your pals.

Listen to Koppites talking in the pub about their players, there seems an influx of posters on here who seem a bit similar. As I say, it’s probably me being old but I find it a little seedy calling our manager by his first name.

….steady, if I remember rightly you’re also a Michael Keane groupie. I also find it a bit creepy to call Benitez by his first name when even Kendall and Catterick don’t get that. It’s just not Everton to me.

Each to their own I suppose, I probably need to move with the times and a shifting supporter base.
Mate whats Howie and Harry-cats got to do with this?

this thread will get 50 pages in a day if actually lose a game lol
You know they are saving it up. We could go unbeaten into October and it'll only be worse. Every win is like a can of coke getting an extra shake before the opening.

And boy they will look even more ridiculous than they have been looking coping with us getting results.

The thing I was concerned about when Benitez came was that I thought he was washed up and irrelevant in the modern game. I wasn’t impressed by the way his Newcastle side set up or the players he brought in for them.

What I’ve seen so far though is a stronger mentality within the players where if things go wrong (goal down to Southampton, equalisers against Leeds, bizarre red card against Huddersfield), we don’t fold, we come back stronger. I’ve also seen tactical switches based off how things are going (Richarlison/Gray switched position against Southampton, Gray switched wings a couple times against Leeds, plenty of reshuffling last night with personnel and formation) which have also been mostly successful.

Overall I’m positive about where we’re going so far, not so much based off results but the way we’ve gone about things.

A win against Brighton and an exciting end to the transfer window and I think we’ll all be feeling a lot more positive about the season than we were a couple of weeks ago.

Interesting point about how we name our managers, just going through some of them here's how I personally referred to them
Moysie
Koemen
Roberto
Walter Smith
Silva
Big Joe
Kendall and Howard in equal measures for some reason. What a man!!
Gordon Lee
Big Dunc
R a f a ........not Raphael as the forum changes it to lol

Easier to Spell. Plus, it's his name.
  • The Manager
  • Benitez
Or, in special circumstances
  • Rafael
The shortened version is never acceptable, he's not your mate. (unless he is, of course)

Standards please Toffees, standards.

I heard Davey Moyes and Bobby Martinez lots of times during their reigns.

The objection to Benitez is unique for obvious reasons. People just can't let go.

That said, I've always found it cringeworthy anyway, it should just be surnames. Same with "Boris" for Johnson.

….at the risk of being vaulted, I always use surnames, even ’Sigurdsson’. It might be because I’m ok at spelling but I also find it cringeworthy how Koppites refer to their players.

Special circumstances = a victory, if he loses a game only then should he be called Benitez
