Outside of the board/Brands/players another key problem is our fans lack any patience whatsoever.

Outside of the big clubs that win stuff its only really us, Spurs, WHU and Newcastle that have fans who demand results regardless of the quality of squad.

Graham Potter said he struggles with the pressure from Brighton fans - imagine him here winning 1 in 5 for example. We turned El Loco bald, Koeman aged 15 years and Silva had suitcases under his eyes never mind bags.

Its all a perfect storm and for me its one we have to ride out as no easy answers or solutions.

Benitez has 18 months left on his contract - let him see it out and get the wage bill trimmed with the usual dossers out the door over the next 3 transfer windows / contracts expiring whilst spending responsibly on players that suit the system i.e a CB to partner Mina who is aggressive and can attack the ball / play zonal, a proper RB that can get up and down the pitch, another Doucoure monster in the middle of the park.

If results / performances pick up from that with key players back from injury then fans are happy he gets his 3rd year extension activated if not and we remain stagnant then we wish him on his way and have the finances to bring in a decent manager and actually back them in the transfer market.

Some fans can’t look past petty partisanship with Benitez. They want him out no matter what. They have no idea who they want in. A philosophy manager who can get this lot playing free flowing football but is also a pragmatist who can do it whilst missing his best players through injury and no funds in the transfer market. I mean there’s loads of them about aren’t there. 100s of young managers just like this which is why Newcastle have gone for Emery, Spurs for Conte, West Ham for Moyes, United are sticking with Solskjaer and Chelsea went to an ex player and then Tuchel. Villa will probably go for Fonseca.

Who are these mythical younger managers playing brilliant football and why have the rest of the prem ignored them?

Hey mate, you said that you were done with Everton this time last year. Are you saying that you are a key problem? ?

So it's the fans fault for wanting to watch some decent football. Yet benitez lies blameless for any results despite the fact its his tactics, game plan and game management......

And the fans who have zero control over any of that, zero control over signings, who are ignored by the board about managerial appointments, are the ones to blame for the situation?

You called for Carlos head after 6 months.

Any other manager would be given patience to get through this period which is why the decision to appoint Benitez was so massively idiotic.

It took him quite a bit to see the light. You, I and every person and his dog saw that after two games of watching that tugboat. But you are right, there is hope. Hopefully, it won' t take the master tactition another 30 games to understand that there is something wrong in his plan if Townsend is required to mark Harry Kane.
Yeah that was embarrasing, you'd think they would sort that out on the pitch.

I don't particularly want Potter but I don't get this argument.

When he took over at Brighton he had a team that had been playing under Chris Hughton. It included Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Pascal Gross, Dale Stephens, Aaron Mooy, a new signing in Bissouma.

These weren't remarkable players. You wouldn't look at Duffy and Dunk and say they're better ball players than our defenders - in fact, throw in Webster and Dan Burn as they have now, and you wouldn't say any of those are better on the ball than our defenders...

Look at Leeds when Bielsa took over. He turned them into what he wanted and then if players didn't fit, he got rid.

This is what managers do. This was my argument last season when people were saying Ancelotti had a 'style'. He didn't, because if he did he would have implemented it and then you improve the players afterwards.

Potter is a top manager. Exactly what we need - a squad builder who is young and hungry to succeed.

When you look at the teams he puts out and the players he has then there is no argument at all to claim that he couldnt do it with ours...id rather we went for an overseas manager but if not Id happily take Potter.

None of those players were EVER as good as the hysterics on this forum hyped them to be. I am Irish. I followed Coleman for years. He was already in serious decline PRIOR to his leg break playing against Wales. But his fans were in denial. It's a pattern among a fanbase starved of actual genuine quality since the 1980s. In the 30 years since the decline of the great Kendall side, we have had a handful of players capable of even getting into that squad. The players mentioned above wouldn't lace their boots - even at their dubious "peak". Gomes was never great. He had a handful of games and was already stinking the place out prior to his injury. He was always damaged goods after his breakdown in Barcelona. They couldn't wait to get rid of him and he was chased out of town. Godfrey is nothing more than potential. Full stop. Holgate is finished and Davies never got started.

Good players can play in almost any system. These players are simply not good enough, but is it obviously more convenient to scapegoat a manager instead. Our last two managers have won the Champions League and returned to the final for good measure. We're not talking Roberto Di Matteo types here. They finished 10th - and currently sit 10th. Silva, Koeman, and Allardyce struggled a few places higher. The evidence is hiding there in open sight: these players are simply not good enough if you want to attack the Champions League positions, and will get you sacked as soon as you collectively lose the few who can actually play.

I agree with you about the folly of sacking managers. It has to stop.

If the roof of your house was crumbling and you could move, would you?

Or would you decide to stay until the roof fell in?

All the folk going on about "we are in 10th" or "we have 14 points", I hope you all realize the only top 10 sides from last year we played so far are Leeds, West Ham and Utd.

We still have Spurs, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester to come in this first half of the season.

Right now I wouldn't back us to take a point from any of those.

We are sleepwalking into calamity with Benitez here.

I predicted 24pts from 13 games.

Thats because of the games we have coming up now...its not looking good.

Unless we take 10pts or thereabouts from Spurs, City and Brentford we will be in serious danger of dropping into the trapdoor region by xmas.

Turn your point around a little...

Have the most successful managers in the premier league come directly from overseas OR have they come from rival premier league teams?

Currently, Chelsea, Liverpool and City have overseas managers.

United 'should' have gone for Conte or Zidane.

Spurs and Arsenal are the anomaly and theyve gone for Conte and Arteta. One world class manager and one who has come into his 1st job.

Almost everything points to appointing an overseas manager who is new to the league.

Ancelotti was here 18 months and was taking us backwards (and it wasn't solely his fault in fairness) but we had no style of play or any attacking intent other than to nick a goal and defend 90 minutes for a 1-0.

Even those who worshipped Carlo said last season was some of the most boring football they had watched in years and all of a sudden fans want to go back to that just because we might concede less from set pieces?

Surely it makes more sense to just bring in better defenders & players?

Because with this current squad you have two options:

1. Play like Ancelotti did 2nd half of the season which has a glass ceiling of around 9th/10th

2. Play more expansive football which leads to anywhere from top half to bottom 3.

Anyone without an agenda against the manager can see the crux comes down to the players / recruitment and the board/Chairman share the blame for that.

When the answer is "throw Delph or Davies on" then I honestly dont want to know what the question is as neither would get in another PL sides starting 11.
