Fair point.. just trying to highlight that a Derby defeat won’t make much difference towards Benitez for a certain group from what they already do or think.
I just think people are putting too much of a watershed on the Derby outcome, are people really that obsessed that a game against Liverpool is the be all and end all for a season.
Have you seen our run of fixtures? I'd wager there will be a few defeats before then

I think it's more that we have spurs, City and Brentford before then as well. And if we struggle to get any points in them, and then a spanking by Liverpool happens with all their fans chanting his name, its hardly going to go well is it?

He said it took him 2 years. Right now, do we have 2 years to wait for that? When we have conceded more set pieces in 10 games thab we did in the whole of last season?

We can go back to playing 4 centrebacks across the back 4 shafting our open play if we want to? I’m sure we’d get better at set pieces, just have the entire team sat in the ) yard box and just nod them away and keep doing this ball after ball for 90 mins and hope we nick one which is essentially where we ended up under Ancelotti.

It’s not a mystery to me why this has happened. Ancelotti played Godfrey Keane Mina Holgate Doucoure Siggurdson DCL Richarlison

Of those Benitez has had maybe 4 of those available on the pitch recently. The players that have replaced them are Coleman Digne Davies Gray Townsend etc.

We’ve lost some key staples of the set piece defence in Mina Doucoure DCL (and previously Richarlison) and we’re transitioning to a new system. Combine that with Michael Keane performing like a beluga whale and you have your answer as to why we’ve not been as good.

He's not going to change tactically unfortunately. All the drama and hassle of his appointment was simply not worth it and not what the club needed. The board are deluded to think it was a bold progressive move. Just controversial and that's it.

Given his background he would have had to have done something extraordinary to get most fans on his side. But it was always a ticking bomb until we hit a bad run of form.

I mean, all those players were missing during last season as well.

This open play you talk about is great. We conceded 2 with zero shots in the first half yesterday with 31% possession.

You say we did that under ancelotti, but he had loads of injuries too and we beat wolves last season with no strikers and a midfield of digne, doucoure, iwobi and davies. Injuries isn't an excuse. Yes it contributes but decent managers would find a way. I've talked about that enough in this thread previously so not repeating it all again.

I have no confidence in the manager coming up with a coherent tactical plan and even if he did I have even less confidence in him being able to communicate it to and this bunch of losers being able to carry it out.

Bottom line we are going nowhere very quickly.

We probably won't go down ( not entirely convinced ) but I believe we will be bottom half.

I've said this many times, right or wrong he doesn't get the leniency of time because of his back ground.
He knows that but he got offered a cushy contract with a job on his doorstep so he's hit the jackpot.

Ancelotti is a far superior manager to Benitez or anyone else we've had in the last few years.

We had all these injury issues last year and Ancelotti got no leeway and didn't make excuses either. We won countless games with big injuries. The team he got to win at Wolves last year was utterly dreadful on paper.

Ancelotti also had us rock solid defensively and a big threat at offensive set pieces. Benitez can't defend a basic corner and we offer zero threat in attack. He's managed to make our biggest strength our biggest weakness in 3 months.

The excuses for Benitez don't hold up against scrutiny. Ancelotti had the same issues and didn't get the benefit of the doubt from lots of the people so keen to defend our current manager.

Neither have I, look at him constantly playing Rondon and using Iwobi, in the latest games his tactics and subbing were not good IMO.

Benitez jas to change the tactics to fit the crappy players he's been left with by brands and moshiri - 2 CMS is a recipe for disaster.

Gordon needs to start on Sunday - he should look at other young players from the u23s starting cos I've had enough of holgate, Keane, Coleman, Rondon and Delph (last night aside - won't hold me breath that it continues)- they should be finished at the club.

Sadly think Conte will run rings around him on Sunday - I don't see where we pick up points until the end of December, the fixtures are that bad and the key players we have out.
