‘Huge rebuilding job needed at Everton’….fans want Benitez out after a few bad results.

How exactly does that help us? Ever thought we might have to go through a bit of pain before some of his methods come to fruition? He even said himself that at Liverpool he ended up with one of the best defences in the league at set pieces once they got used to zonal marking. So we either do the work for the reward or we ask him to change a principle he’s had success with in the past? He’s just brought in new additions to the medical team, do we just turf the lot of them out because we lost a few games?

He needs time to turn around a ship that has been going in the wrong direction for 7 years.

Typical Benitez self promotion and also not really true. His teams have always conceded from set pieces. He could try a novel idea of using the best method for the personel available to him. Ideology management is stubborn and always fails. He could improve the situation tomorrow by going back to Ancelotti's method which the players understood and executed.

He needs no more time, it's never going to work. Keeping a manager just because we don't want to get a new one is hardly a positive reason.

He should never have been appointed. Everyone knew how this would end, the only surprise is how soon it's gone disastrously wrong. Now do what Spurs have done and take decisive steps to help move the team forward and rebuild the relationship between the club and the fans. I want something back that resembles Everton - hard work on the pitch, full commitment, and front foot direct, aggressive football.

Yeah imagine it... you could have most of the posters coming on here calling him names because of his red connections... threatening him with messages on bedsheets and calling for him to be sacked even though his best players have been unavailable because of injury... let’s hope they don’t lose the Derby eh.
Think you'll find, nearly all condemned those bed sheets. And apparently it's only a minority that don't like him and call him things anyway as supposedly the majority are happy with him as manager.

And injuries aren't a new things, it's about finding answers to that.

He said it took him 2 years. Right now, do we have 2 years to wait for that? When we have conceded more set pieces in 10 games thab we did in the whole of last season?

The problem with this manager is there is already a massive disconnect between the players and fans, can only think of richarlison who has a good relationship with us. For Everton to then employ a fat Kopite rat, probably one of the most disliked of all Liverpool managers, as Everton manager beggars belief. The club needs to be very, very careful how the next few months go because if they completely lose the fanbase then it’ll turn ugly very quickly.

Fair point.. just trying to highlight that a Derby defeat won’t make much difference towards Benitez for a certain group from what they already do or think.
I just think people are putting too much of a watershed on the Derby outcome, are people really that obsessed that a game against Liverpool is the be all and end all for a season.

This is why it was a silly appointment we are desperate for stability but appointing a legend of our rivals means he will never get the time coupled with his stubbornness and our fixtures I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone after the derby.

I mean, you haven't picked the best players to use as examples really.

Coleman was quality for us for years. The issue is we haven't replaced him when he started to decline after he struggled to get back to pre horrific injury levels.
Gomes was great when he first came. Got a permanent deal.and broke his leg and hasn't recovered.
Godfrey was arguably our best defender last year. Has had covid a couple of months ago and is clearly struggling and is devoid of confidence. I've had covid and I know how long it took me to get back to be anywhere near normal.
Holgate looked great but hasn't progressed with age unfortunately.
Davies is a bit similar to Holgate really and as a squad player for where we are currently at, isn't awful, but he will never be a starter for us.

But hardly the fans fault that they have got excited by young players breaking through. And for young players, having 5 managers in 5 years, is hardly.going to help their progression, as they have to learn a new style of play everytime.
None of those players were EVER as good as the hysterics on this forum hyped them to be. I am Irish. I followed Coleman for years. He was already in serious decline PRIOR to his leg break playing against Wales. But his fans were in denial. It's a pattern among a fanbase starved of actual genuine quality since the 1980s. In the 30 years since the decline of the great Kendall side, we have had a handful of players capable of even getting into that squad. The players mentioned above wouldn't lace their boots - even at their dubious "peak". Gomes was never great. He had a handful of games and was already stinking the place out prior to his injury. He was always damaged goods after his breakdown in Barcelona. They couldn't wait to get rid of him and he was chased out of town. Godfrey is nothing more than potential. Full stop. Holgate is finished and Davies never got started.

Good players can play in almost any system. These players are simply not good enough, but is it obviously more convenient to scapegoat a manager instead. Our last two managers have won the Champions League and returned to the final for good measure. We're not talking Roberto Di Matteo types here. They finished 10th - and currently sit 10th. Silva, Koeman, and Allardyce struggled a few places higher. The evidence is hiding there in open sight: these players are simply not good enough if you want to attack the Champions League positions, and will get you sacked as soon as you collectively lose the few who can actually play.

I agree with you about the folly of sacking managers. It has to stop.
