Actually, I'm being unfair in saying that to you. But only about as unfair as you are to Benitez. As an Evertonian of 40 years, we have had far worse managers than the current incumbent. He has been here five minutes. Whether people like him or not is beside the point. The problems at the club are much deeper than the identity of the manager. People are falling into a trap by fixating on Benitez and not what's going on in the boardroom...

But he has been fired from teams with talent before including Real Madrid who went on to win the CL after he left.

You many not like his style, and you may even suspect he is well past his peak, but describing him as a "mediocre manager" is, with respect, nonsense. Even if we were to allow that he was "finished", Everton has been so mismanaged that ridding the club of him will not lead to a sustainable improvement. The issues at this club are systemic. This means they will take time to fix. Benitez is thick-skinned enough to wade through the inevitable bile coming his way and is, arguably, perfect for conducting the painful purge that must happen over the next 18 months. Moshiri is in no position to make yet another change without falling victim to charges of utter incompetence. Benitez will be here for the duration. It'll be a very rocky road until January...

With respect, Eddie Howe is there for one reason and one reason only. A huge sack of cash. He knows his aim is to keep them in the PL so he can be moved aside for a more fashionable name.
Howe has taken the job no self respecting manager would go near until PL status is assured.
