The amount of spares being offered around today hardly displays a unified fanbase pulling in the same direction . However Onwards and upwards , let’s a hope 90mins from richarlison is enough to drag together a performance more akin to the second 45 at wolves than the first .

I’d be lying if I said I was confident but if we manage an early goal it would do absolute wonders for atmosphere and the general feeling and could hopeful give everyone a lift.

The thing is for those wanting Benitez to go, who do we bring in that is better?

We are no longer in a position to pick top managers as we are a mid table club with no money to spend in the near to mid future.

Newcastle who are now the richest club in the world have just appointed Eddie Howe
Someone who can reunite the fan base, ie not a kopite, we'll do the rest. Don't know who that is like.

…we’ve lost our last 3 league games, two of those at home & we’re 6 points off the relegation zone. We were knocked out of the League Cup by lower league opposition and a few managers ahead of him in the betting have recently been sacked. 4 consecutive league defeats and the alarm bells truly start ringing.

Thats why he should be shorter odds.

I remember around the time Silva started losing sequences of games, I did some back testing, and essentially when a manager loses 4+ games in a row, they don't tend to survive very long (with the exception being Moyes, who had in credit a 4th place finish the season before). With City around the corner, today feels a very important game for the manager.

It's amazing that in every other thread, most are rational and can see that recruitment, DoF, players, backroom, medical staff, academy, Kenwright are all bigger problems than the manager yet in here, it's constant sack sack sack. No matter who you bring in as manager, as long as the other problems are not sorted, nothing much will change.

All that sacking him will accomplish is another name to abuse because everything else remains the same. Almost a new mamager a year and even Ancelotti who most got behind couldn't do anything except play some of the worst football since Allardyce. Sack him now, appoint another manager who probably is gonna be worse and then sack the new manager again in the summer?
So in the threads about brands, the board etc, people are criticising them for their mistakes and sections want rid of them?

How strange that in the benitez thread, people are doing the same about him......

this for me sums up the recklessness of calling for Benitez head after two months when we're tenth. No idea who will replace him, but it doesn't matter cos the crowd will see us safe.
Wow, really? He is an utter toxic toad dragging us down with his horrific tactics. He should go now as should whoever who thought this was clever.

yes, to hell with the manager, the new ground, and anyone else who can't win us matches when all our good players are out. bring on the revolution, we are ready.

The one thing this club needs now is a united fan base. We've been divided for several years due to the shambolic running of the club from above. Benitez is just the cherry on the cake.

it makes no difference. we were all united behind Carlo and watched the worst football ever. it's all about the quality of the manager, Get that right and everything falls into place.

In fact, it’s an insult. I feel like moshri is running a social experiment and we’ll turn up in the journal of psychology in 2 years time. This appointment makes the Stanford prison experiment look like a good business model.

It does, but I think there is a lot more to it than just losing games; its how the games are lost that is the important thing.

I don't want to stroke the collective ego of the match-going fanbase, but collectively they are not idiots and know what works and what doesn't in football terms. Specifically, they (and the rest of us) have seen this same nonsense from many of the same players for years now and we all know how it ends.

Koeman and Martinez had to go because they were persisting in trying those things that had demonstrably failed numerous times before despite both (Koeman vs City and Martinez in most of his first season) having done much better with a different way of playing. Likewise Silva had that good run towards the end of his one full season and then descended back into the nonsense that got him fired. Benitez started really well, with really effective tactics but since the injuries he has fallen back into the same 4-5-1 comfort blanket (largely because of Rondon) and it has worked as well as it usually does.

What he needs to do today is show he's changed it up, make it clear from the start he has understood what doesn't work. If he does that, performances are likely to improve and so will the reaction from the fanbase. If he doesn't, he won't last until Christmas.

I see us losing v Spurs and City, I think the one after that is Brentford, so that would without any question be a must win game - if he is still here for it.
