The problem is mate you and your cabal tie yourselves into knots trying to make out Benitez has been a disaster / backed no less than the managers that have come before him.

Throw in Kevin saying Benitez has a half a billion squad at his disposal you just have to laugh really.

The hate does you no good - you have time to reflect on what energy you are transmitting to this club right now and if it isn't a positive one then make those first steps in turning over a new leaf its not difficult.

Otherwise being on the managers back from day one will just eat away at you inside with all the bile, negativity, hatred as he isn't going anywhere any time soon.
I mean I've not said benitez has been backed the same. He clearly hasn't. But you and yours keep saying he was left with a mess of a squad by ancelotti etc. Except its the same squad ancelotti inherited, but 3 of the 5 players signed under him are seen as key players so must have improved the squad and the other 2 aren't at the club so aren't exactly causing any issues.

He has then signed 5 players himself. Now you must think they improve the squad as he clearly did to sign them, even if they were free. So again, the squad is improved from the one ancelotti got and left.

Or is that wrong? And benitez signed players to make the squad worse and got rid of 2 players which weakens the squad?

You act all high and mighty and that it doesn't bother you etc, yet here you are, repeatedly arguing the toss, so clearly it does bother you.

I also don't think he has been a disaster. I think he is heading that way. What's unacceptable is winning 1 in 8 (which was against the worst team I seen in years), and that is more than likely to extend (hopefully not but let's be realistic).

Would you agree like many on here who said (when we were winning) that the squad was stronger than last season by us bringing Townsend and Gray in?

When the first 11 is fit yes mate - but there is two things there to consider:

1. You put Gray and Townie in the starting 11 but take DCL, Doucoure, Richarlison and Mina out the side with a half fit Godfrey and the sides weaker

2. Neither Gray or Townie would get into the top 6 sides and possibly Leicester/West Ham at present so just because they are improvements on Iwobi/Gordon means little if the jump up in quality isn't at the level where these players are carrying us on their backs into the European spots like the likes of Bruno Fernandes has done at Utd in recent years or Vardy/Tielemans at Leicester etc.

I mentioned it above mate, we were told that the squad was stronger than last season after we signed Gray and Townsend and they were both on fire for us at the start of the season and we were winning, now we're crap with 1 win out of 8 all of a sudden we shouldn't expect to do better than last season because Ancelotti left us in a mess, don't figure...

Two players who were fighting for their careers put in a couple of shifts and the "squad is stronger"?

When a new manager is finally installed I fully expect him to can players of this ilk.

It's mad. I've asked previously for them to explicitly explain what mess he left the squad in (other than leaving at short notice once the season had actually finished). Never got an answer and they just move on to arguing with another poster.

Injuries are all part of the game though, Ancelotti had to cope with injuries, it's how a manager copes with those injuries that matters because we can't just gauge a manager by him having a fully fit squad to pick from otherwise what are we paying said manager mega bucks for.

A lot of mental gymnastics in that post mate.

You cant judge the manager with the injuries we've had these opening 10 or so games.

DCL
Richarlison
Doucoure
Mina
Pickford
Godfrey
Coleman
Digne
Gomes
Iwobi
Delph
Gbamin
Davies
Toshun

All those players have missed at least 1 game this season already and most of our best ones have missed at least 3-4 - thats literally near our entire squad!!

Throw in a £1.7m budget and how can anyone seriously be calling for the managers head?

Laughable.

Haha, I actually am laughing at your argument here about players missing a match. 11 of those mentioned missed at least 1 game I the first 10 matches last season. But also include, Kenny, Gordon, Holgate, allan, branthwaite, and James.

Richie (granted was a red card not an injury but still unavailable for 3 games), Holgate, Coleman, Kenny, Godfrey, among others like delph etc missed 3/4.

Injuries aren't new.

Mental gymnastics? It's not difficult. Either benitez signed the players he signed to improve the squad or he signed them to make it worse?
He got rid of 2 players to weaken the squad?
3 of ancelottis signings are now seen as key players for us so improved the squad?

Whats challenging?

To be fair these players he mentioned were a big miss...lol

Iwobi

And we finished 10th last season and universally agreed the manager needed another season and backing in the summer window.

So what's suddenly changed from that view point?
