Do the Rafael lovers actually rate our Injured players in the first place or is it just a good excuse?

Seems like Mina has now become Nesta, Doucoure is Lampard, DCL is Drogba etc

They'd probably moan if Iwobi was injured and claim its costing Rafael

Say WHAAAAT??

Mina may not be Nesta but he is compared to our other defenders. Same with Doucoure, same with DCL.

At times he is. At times the other cbs are better (also impacted by set up/tactics). He, like our other defenders, seems to have only good or bad form with no in-between. It was only January that Keane was being raved about as our best cb.

CF wise, dcl would have to lose a leg, maybe both to be worse than rondon or tosun but richie can step in.

Doucoure is our best box to box player and he is the real miss out of the injuries.

Of course that can be debated, but Keane needs someone like Mina to be there to be improve his game. The point I'm making is that saying these 3 players do not make a difference to our team is absolutely false. It doesn't matter if they are not good enough to get into other sides, what matters is when they play they are a step up from what we can put out on the pitch otherwise.

At the moment the Benitez haters are downplaying these players influence to aid their argument and that is just plain annoying. I wouldn't have wanted Moyes anywhere near us again but if he joined us and had these injury problems I would still be calling for patience as if you lose 3 of your most influential players you can't hope to keep up the same levels as if they were available.

Defence all seemed to know what they were doing last year untill Benitez came in and weaved his magic, ripping up last years set up - introducing zonal marking again-even when Minas not playing - and has turned 2 of last years best performers Digne and Godfrey into shadows of themselves this season.

I do agree that he has altered it for the worse and the Zonal Marking is horrendous. The defenders arguing on the pitch because they dont understand it is on him though. Until they do understand it, they shouldn't be doing it in a game. But I can't blame him for Godfrey. He has clearly struggled with long covid in my opinion.

It's taken Benitez to be appointed to make me see how small and petty a large percentage of, if not the wider fanbase, at least the fanbase on here is as they reject someone who could be positive for the club because they are too small minded to see past who previously employed them.

I honestly think it's pathetic.

LOL it’s about opinions end of

City and Brentford then were 1/3 into the season.

If the injuries and 'expected loss' excuses are to be used then he has to take 3pts from those two games.

Puts us on 18pts after 13 games.

Thats 6pts behind what i expected but ground that can be made up.

The 6 games following:

Liverpool
Arsenal
Palace
Chelsea
Leicester
Burnley

I think thats when we'll see the manager sink or swim.

It will be float or swim, either swims or floats onto the next run of fixtures, but his job is safe, if we do plummet down the table the last thing we want is to gamble on a quick fix

Lucas wasnt great last season, they have turned themselves into what they have became.
The biggest defense killer has been the brake up on the Keane Mina partnership but hopfully Mina is back soon so they can press on together.
Agree on the zone stuff but as we seen against Spurs he dropped it for man marking.

The problem for me is why are excuses being made for Benitez?
If Howe for arguments sake became our manager and we had the same points/results/performances/injuries/style of play (Signing Rondon) as we have now, I'm sure many would be shouting why did we employ him in the first place, the same thing is happening with Benitez.

Fans supporting the manager isn't an issue for me, its the 'its not his fault' when things go wrong and 'He's the man' when results go right. Sorry but modern day football management doesn't work like that, they are under intense scrutiny game by game from fans pundits and the media.

Your point in bold, if we do plummet like Martinez/Koeman/Silva did, everyone was calling for the theirs heads so again why shouldn't Benitez's?
Lets say were in about 16-17th after the next run of fixtures (which is quite possible) do you not think the club should be seriously considering firing the manager?
