Allardyce did worse than Benitez is doing now so congratulations for missing the mark again.

They both sit at a win% of 38.5%.

Nice try though.

Alladyce had a horrific squad to work with though - miles worse than anything we've had since.

He was never a long term option I agree but my point is the fanbase pick and choose who and what manager is acceptable regardless of results.

Fair enough.

I'm judging him on his past 5-6 years which were crap. He's a stubborn, egotistical manager who is, as we are seeing from his ridiculous system that he keeps playing, stuck in 2006-2010 when it comes to how the game is played.

I actually think as a DoF he'd be much better, definitely much better than the muppet in place now, because he's a strong character who wants to build a club, and could be a guiding hand in that sense, but as a manager he's way past it Dave. I feared that when he was appointed but was willing to see if there were early signs. There hasn't been, IMO, because even when we won games I thought, bar one or two performances, there were severe faults to how we played and those faults are still in place and haven't been rectified.
This is thrown at Jose as well, being a manager stuck in the past.

The problem there is that we have done both and ended up with neither. We have hired the young potential manager and hired the experienced, Rafael pending, we keep sacking them all!

So what is the answer here? Experience will be stuck in the past who we can attract here, and young has us potentially cycling through manager after manager whilst signing random players , to end up where we are now without a hope or prayer.

So either way the club can't win , we are only 2 more sacked managers away from hiring Jose morinhio at current pace!

We literally drew with Spurs in the last game.
In the last game we got battered by City. We did pick up a point against Spurs, that is true, but I don't see us repeating that against Brentford, the RS (that is going to be unbearable, I'm pleased I no longer have a season ticket as that match is going to be excruciating), Arsenal or Chelsea. Maybe we can get something against Palace (although they achieved what you believe is impossible against City) or an out of form Leicester before Christmas but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think the squad now is worse.

Right now , 3 injuries has turned us from a team winning every week to a team with a horrendous record. The difference being 3 players, lewen , mina , doucoure.

Allardyce had a much better squad to choose from given how many players (mainly young or new) he just didn't play. You can say the squad then wasn't much cop either but there was a fair few names then that would be better squad options than we have now.

You said you are happy with a manager playing ugly football providing we were getting results (in reference to King Carlo)

Yet Alladyce took that monstrosity of a squad post Koeman/Walsh into 8th - surpassing Ancelotti's two league finishes yet he was legged out the door because his football was "ugly".

No one with any sense would take this job on as they cant win with our fans.
His win percentage was horrendous. To pretend that because he came 8th he did better than carlo is ludicrous. 49 points and 8th shows how poor that season was. Carlo came 10th with 10 extra points, which in all but one of the previous 20 seasons would have got top 8, and sometimes top 4.

Even if you compare the season he "saved us" and the half season carlo had when we were in a worse position to when Sam took over, he averaged less points than carlo got.

Allardyce won 34 points from 24 games after spending 40m
Carlo got 30 from 20 after spending 0.

Spurs were there for the taking. Esp at home. Bar norwich they were the lowest scorers in the league.
And lets face it. We were a lick of paint even coming away from that with nothing. Conte had only just come in. It was still a great time to grab those 3 points.
But we're not that hungry or ruthless enough to put anyone to the sword
Nicey nicey Everton. Roll up roll up and get your points here.
