If the option was (insert rubbish manager to suit my agenda) or Benitez...

You would take Benitez right lads?

Lads?

Lads?

Hello?

Come on mate you know as well as I do not one world class manager or even a step below around Carlo's level would take on a job with our squad and only £1.7 million to strengthen it.

Im yet to see this though again apart from a few dissenting voices on this thread. On another forum I read over 80% still want him at the club for example and I've yet to see any serious groans from the crowd at the game.

Yes people will boo and leave early but thats generally directed at everyone not just the manager.
You are yet to see it because you are choosing not to! It's nowhere near as bad as it will get of course.

Again as I have said before, I really want you to be right as that's good for Everton, but you won't be.

The mistake you and others are making (in my opinion obviously) is that you are living in a fantasy world where human emotions do not matter. They do. On paper we should give him a chance but some people will not. Others will take a bit longer for it to rear its ugly head but rest assured it will happen. As I said from the beginning it only takes a couple of poor results (again circumstances do not matter when it comes to raw human emotion) before he flips from being Everton manager to Fat Spanish RS waiter. Yes It's unfair and yes its probably not going to be beneficial to the club but it is still going to happen.

Beat me to it.

One of their greatest ever players in Wayne Rooney is a Scouser too.

The answer is yes, if Steven Gerrard was deemed the manager good enough to manage them and was the top pick, he'd be approached by Manchester United. Because successful businesses aren't ran by snivelling cry babies.

They are however, ran by astute businessmen who know that employing someone who will decimate their relationship with the fanbase - those people that pay the money, may not be the wisest decision.

Let's not try and pretend otherwise.

Edit: oh and Rooney played for us, not Liverpool - we aren't the threat they are. We've given them plenty of players over the years, and vice versa.

Disagree there - Moshiri isn't an Evertonian he's an Iranian businessmen.

How was he meant to know we have a contingent of bitter fans who would react that badly.

Ultimately if Benitez was the best candidate for the job regardless of his LFC past he had to have appointed him end of the day.

The facht some fans put their own prejudice's over the well being of the club is solely on their consciences.
In fairness he was well aware of the situation before appointing Benitez, do you think he didn’t discus the appointment with Kenwright and the board? He was well aware it was a divisive appointment but did it anyway because he could, his club, his rules.

Benitez is in now and, barring a serious relegation battle, will stay in for the time being, but consider this, he is a man being paid a hell of a lot of money, who, in the middle of an injury crisis has said ‘ we will have to wait until the second half of the season to see the real Everton. Does that mean he continues to draw his wages, but, tells us that we will just have to put up with a disorganised, effortless team until then, isn’t it his job to at least organize the defence and install a bit of desire into the players?

One final thing, people are putting so much faith into the old ‘it’ll be fine once we get through the Injuries’ nonsense. We weren’t exactly setting the world alight before the injuries and in the case of DCL his game is all about pace and physicality, he has had a serious large muscle injury, we really don’t know how long it will take for him to get back up to speed, if in deed he does, he will certainly have to manage this injury long term, how much will that take from his game?

No successful business ignores their clientele either.

The Busby shout is daft. It wasn't the same back then. Plenty of people went to watch both Everton and Liverpool back then for example, you didn't have social media enabling idiots to spout their opinions to all and sundry either.

Gerrard would be chased out of Manchester. There is a big difference between being a legend and a former player too.

I would argue that point and say 80% of Evertonians emotions are geared more towards the board/chairman/DOF & players than the fella been here less than 5 minutes.

I dont dispute they'll always be those against him no matter what - but over time I imagine they'll be as Mr Sharp once infamously stated "a man and his dog".

You really think football is the same now as it was in the 40's?? Tweeting was literally tying post-it's to pigeons legs.
I'm saying that United employed an ex-City and Liverpool player as their manager.

Benitez conming here isn't - or shouldn't - cause this much ripples.

But there are special fans amongst us who care more than others - feel more than others about the club; so we have to endure their fury as they have not been listened to as guardians of the club's identity.

Hard to know what to make of the Nuno thing. Lots of briefing the press. Heard back room staff and heard they werent impressed with his interview. Either way he was pretty high on the list.

Yeah from what I gather they weren't impressed by his vision for the club.

He was also in talks with Palace at the same time and they turned him down due to his demands.

I get the feeling you would argue any point to be fair! lol

He wont get that time though as he has been dealt and incredibly rubbish hand.

Crap squad, no money, ex RS, poor recent history. The bloke is doomed. The next 2 games are vital and I don't see how he gets the required results out of them, nor do you by the sounds of it so it will only start ramping up.
