happy with the start, that's all we can ask of managers/players to work hard and look like they're giving 100% and they'll win us over. We played well from what I'm reading so it's all happy at the ranch again, see how insignificant such nonsense is when ultimately results determine how much adulation anyone gets.

….that type of forecasting is always dangerous, Zat. We’ve had a terrific start but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Simple benchmark is 20 points minimum at Christmas.

20pts after 18 games on Xmas day?

Thats rather peculiar eggs.

Id rather go with 14pts from the 1st 6 games and take it from there.

The following 7 are below and its imperative we have points on the board now before this run of games...if we got the 14pts from 6 and then 12 from these we'd be on 26pts from 13 games which is a tremendous first 1/3 of the season.

Norwich
United
West Ham
Watford
Wolves
Spurs
City

So, 14pts from 6 and then 12pts from 7 is what im hoping for the 1st 1/3 of the season.

…I’m just saying those forecasting lists are dangerous because results rarely go as expected. It looks simple when you write it down but football matches are rarely predictable.

I think it’s safer to suggest we see where we are after 10 games because that’s also a more accurate marker of how we’re doing.

Ive gone for 6 and then 13 as that would be approx 1/3 of the season.

Lets see if Benitez can hit my targets.

Sorry for the late reply... This is not true. He doesnt build a team with the players he finds , he proved that at real Madrid .

He priorizes a sistem over his players qualities .. he failed at madrid bcuz wanted em to play similar to actual everton (sac the initiative.. with 35% posesión/ reactive team / counter attack) .

That kind of Game is unaceptable at bigger teams While vs granadas/ levantes / getafes.. etc etc . In short , he is the kind of coach for yes... Sorry : smaller clubs .

Did he fail at Real Madrid?

Unbeaten in Cups and Champions League. 3rd in the league.

2 seasons before Rafael they finished 3rd and 2nd under Ancelotti.

Politics got in the way pure and simple, people blame that Barcelona game where they lost 4-0. The same game Rafael set up defensively pre-match and wanted Casameiro to play, Perez then forced him to play attacking and play his galacticos.

He had perhaps the greatest club side in history languishing behind the leaders in what was a 2 horse race and was hit for 4 in a game. So yes he failed.

Being 3rd, in a 2 horse race, with one of the best teams ever is abject failure. It's why he was booted out very quickly.

Ancelotti failed as well then, as they finished 3rd with him. Rafael didn't get the chance to finish.

Zidane also finished 3rd twice.

I think them not getting hammered 4-0 at home, and winning CLs probably make them a success mate.

Real sacked Benitez before it go too embarrassing for all parties. Hes not a good enough manager to manage the biggest clubs, but at clubs like ourselves, Liverpool, Newcastle- that sort of level, he is very good.

Doesn't matter how good a coach he is, unless we get a couple more decent signings in, the team will hit its usual patch of mediocrity at some point.

The team look fitter and have a 'want to win' attitude at the moment, providing he keeps getting the tactics and substitutions as correct as possible there isn't much more the guy can do.

And Zidane is good enough? Would you have him here? Would love to see it... He is as hands off as Koeman...

Benitez expected Ramos and Ronaldo and the other divas to work hard on the training ground. It was the power struggle that got him sacked.

??

Atm I think its impossible to convince people like you. Me, I rather hope he will be continuing the very promising start thus far and not just results. In a way I dont care where we end just as long as we long like a fighting spirited team, wich, even with the current squad, is a fact.

Looking at the long term I wonder what will be possible. Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City are deff in the top 3. Then its man u, spurs who look good again. Thats a top 5 sorted. Then comes our competition being West Ham, Leicester and who knows, Leeds and or Arsenal if they get a new manager. Those are the games that will be interesting for me to see if we can get into european cup. Its then we can start to think about buying better players again.

he did fail at Real Madrid, yes

I like the way he has started the season, and having anyone determined to prove people wrong is usually a great thing in and of itself, but lets not forget his post-RS career has been one long session of underwhelm.
