Doesn't matter how good a coach he is, unless we get a couple more decent signings in, the team will hit its usual patch of mediocrity at some point.

The team look fitter and have a 'want to win' attitude at the moment, providing he keeps getting the tactics and substitutions as correct as possible there isn't much more the guy can do.

"decent signings" being the key here - they've got to be much better than what we have now and in positions where we need the starting player to be either swapped or put under severe pressure to perform well consistently or they will lose their place

so RB and maybe another winger, beyond that we should not spend the money unless some ludicrous offer presents itself

happy with the start, that's all we can ask of managers/players to work hard and look like they're giving 100% and they'll win us over. We played well from what I'm reading so it's all happy at the ranch again, see how insignificant such nonsense is when ultimately results determine how much adulation anyone gets.

Agree. For me though, it's more relief than happiness that it's not the train wreck I thought it was going to be. Early days and it still feels 'off' that he's our manager but more than happy to hold my hands up, admit I was wrong if we keep playing well and rack up the points.

To be honest, the whole style of play for the team has changed. It is more efficient and effective. Quite a few of the players that looked like disasters are actually looking far better this season. It actually means that in a weird way the bench looks stronger than it did because some of the other players are actually capable of coming on and being affective in the system.

What I take from this more than anything is how important the system is for individual players being able to perform well.

A good player in a poor system will make them look like a poor player.

Personally I'm terrified about central midfield. We're effectively two luxury players down, but same as last season, the depth is shocking in the engine room dept. There's no true reliable options beyond Doucoure and Allan.
