In terms of the character and skillbase of this current EFC squad, he has inherited a perfect storm.

Sure he's been unlucky with injuries as well.

I did not want him, but lets attribute blame where it lies.

The EFC hierarchy allied to Brands have assembled, at vast expense, a group of players who are not fit for purpose.
This All Day Long

The lack of quality of the playing staff put in place by Brands and Koeman and Silva and Ancelotti .

There's literally nothing Benitez can do with the players he has at his disposal.

To challenge that claim you'd have to tell me that the players we have available ARE capable of competing. Well.....?

You're saying there's nothing this wonderful manager can do to even squeeze out a draw? Christ, get Big Sam back he'd find a way.

Not at all.
Yes, you are since you just admitted to me that nobody has actually said that you.

The accusations from them to me is that I betray the club. It's proper cultist behaviour.

They have all the answers and apostates wont be tolerated.

Laughable really, because the Messiah they want to install is a cone laying galloot. Can you imagine the level of hate you have to have for this manager that they'd depose him and him and crown that feller king?
Who has told you you're betraying the club Dave?

Stop making things up, it makes all of your other arguments in favour of Benitez look even worse when you have to resort to telling lies about your fellow blues.

Not one bit of it.

There's a self elected elite operating here who believe they cant let the club have the manager of their choice because that choice fails the arbitrary standards of 'Everton's identity' they've created. And they've done all they can since day one (never mind all the recent cobblers about "1 in 9 wins lad") to unseat the manager the club chose.

Tell me I'm wrong...
Youre wrong

Its funny really, on numerous occasions, I've seen the benitez lovers, telling others to stay away, to stop going the match, to go to another thread etc all because they dont agree and that because they are happy to have him, they think they are somehow better fans.

Y'know there's a dichotomy at play here. Namely, squad is bad (years of investment and leadership failure) so the manager can't possibly be blamed.

Another way of looking at, should one be so inclined (I'd say one of them filthy Blue Geordies night be), is that yes the squad is total pish and its a tough gig for any manager. But perhaps one shouldn't marry a squad not fit for purpose with a manager not fit for purpose.

Not that I'm saying that. I'm clean. In an ambivalent kinda way.

Or perhaps some people are looking at a manager clearly failing to organise a defence or send a team out who have any spirit and who's tactics were dire before he had injuries to contend with.

I think, secretly, you know how unwise an appointment this has been, but, being the contrary an you are, you are entrenched in your position. I don't think Benitez will be sacked unless we are in serious relegation trouble, but, he should not have been appointed because
A/ he is a negative kick and rush merchant whose best fays are behind him and
B/ because he will never be given any leeway here. Whether you agree with them or not, lots of blues can never forget the redskin connection .

He is here now as a testament to our owner's focus on getting to Bramley-Moore whilst staying up and spending as little as possible.

They are mate, like I’ve said before I get people supporting him that’s fine. What I can’t get my head around is them pinning no blame on Benitez for the results for the last 2 months.

If I remember well last season
DCL Injured for a whike
Allan for a while
Pickford for a few games
Mina in and out constantly
Digne for while
Doucoure
James
Iwobi has been out for 2 years
Gordon wasnt playing
We had no Gray
No Townsend
No back up until January for DCL

Let’s not make it out he’s been dealt an impossible hand here and the world is crumbling down on him.

He never had a multiple of Davies, Gomes, Doucoure, Richy, Dom, Mina, James all out at the same time though.

And don't get me wrong, I honestly thought Carlo pulled out some results out of the blue especially away. People still called him a dinosaur manager and the Italian Big Sam though.

I'm not deflecting blame either as he's responsible too. Im just not using it to hang him with 12 games in and a mass of injuries.

To the folks who want him sacked, where does FFP come in your thinking? As we'll have to spunk x amount on yet another manager pay off. Considering we're in the red already.
I would think that if over the next few weeks, if the results are disastrous and the club is facing a real threat of relegation by January then Moshiri will come to the exact same conslusion as he did with Koeman: a £6/7/8m payoff to sack a manager + cost of new one + any potential fine for FFP breach is far more preferable to losing the £100-120m a year Prem/TV income money + hit to the value of his asset/investment + all the other costs of relegation it might take years to recover from.

Plus of course there is always the possibility players might be sold/loaned in January to offset any sack/hire expense. You'd like to think a rich accountant would know how to shuffle the numbers about.
