I'd feel for him if he was trying things, if he wasn't just doing the same thing over and over again and proving just how outdated his managerial approach is.

Do I think we'd get relegated if he stayed? No, actually. I think we'd probably be lower mid-table, which would show just how much Ancelotti actually elevated this squad (and he should have done better I know).

But God, the difference is night and day between them - the clear gulf in quality.

The guy has not been a good manager in five, six years. He hasn't had a look in at any other PL job other than the mess up in the north east and the mess in the north west. Sums it up.

It helps when Ancelotti had a 20 goal CF and Richarlison fit most of the season and played for 1-0 results.

To Benitez's credit he's atleast tried to play more open which is what half the mentalists in our fanbase demanding for his head will want with his replacement!

But that's the problem! The players aint good enough to play that way!

So the next idiot who takes the job will either take flack playing dinosaur football or trying to play more open and getting tonked.

Its why this job is a poisoned chalice with this squad and fanbase and the new man would soon find that out.

Make sure you put that in the athletic Toff you'll be ahead of the curve as thats not a prediction it's a spoiler.

My feelings on his appointment were one of indifference. I got it, that it was borne out of necessity. In no way did it feel right but because it was one of those matters whereby nothing I could do or say would change the decision I just accepted it.
Not any longer though. Forget this £1.7m malarkey, how can we ever forget? His obstinacy to react is his undoing. He's had his chance and blew it.

Richarlison - according to loads on here - was tosh last season and a liability, should have been sold etc. He wasn't great like. DCL scored the majority of his goals (13 I think) in the first half of the season and then was knackered by January cause of how much he was relied on.

Benitez has been without DCL for three months. The entire plan he came in with relied on having DCL fit. So why hasn't he changed his plan? He's had three months? You have to adapt.

Mate, Benitez is a poor manager now. He really, really is. I am watching bloody Cadiz v Atleti atm and Cadiz are better than us.

I’ve not worried about relegation for about 20 years but this is different. 2 points from 7 games with the fixtures we have coming up is properly worrying especially with a toxic goodison getting on their backs. The team is actually crap this time aswell, if you had to guess where a team with Townsend Gray Gordon Iwobi and Rondon playing regularly as attacking options was going to finish you’d say bottom 6 easy.

We just stink of Sunderland at this point - blaming manager after manager acting like the squad are being mismanaged by every of the last 50 managers.
