The teams that regularly get 60+ points a season (City, RS, Chelsea, United for eg) finish in the champions League. Teams that get near 40 points a season, stay in the league. It's that simple.

It's a tier system that fluctuates but if you're in certain brackets of points on a regular basis, you gauge success and sustain it.

Points don't lie for a team. League positions can do.

We got 59 points in a freak season with no fans, due to covid.

Nine teams did better than us. It doesn't matter what teams normally get, we didn't get enough to even finish in Europe.

If you're happy celebrating points, great. I'll go with league finishes.

I'm not advocating Lampard alone, but in the simplest sense I think he'd be better than Benitez.

I could be better than Benitez though purely because I give a toss and can put my ego aside

Our next three we aren't getting a point out of. Newcastle is looking the only chance to get any this month.

I will imagine FSW will be out Monday morning after Leicester and we'll have 10/11 days to get someone in and spending this apparent "budget" we have in Jan.

I have been patient but that performance was unforgivable and I think it is time to move the manager on now. However, I still think that the players are just as big a problem, plus I do not trust this board in the slightest to bring in anyone that is better than Benitez. I would love to see Everton go all out for someone like Lucien Favre or Kasper Hjulmand. They will bring in Steve Bruce or Frank Lampard, and we will be in the same position again in 6months. Club is in an enormous mess and it will take so much time and change to sort it out.
